I used to haul trash in the northeast. I was one of the trucks that took the trash from the transfer stations to the landfills. The longest trip the garage takes to its final destination. Made some of the best money I ever made those days. All cash too! Most of us in the trucking fleet were young 20 somethings with more balls than brains. We loved the guys we worked for! Then in the mid to late 90s the feds came in and the bosses were all up on RICO. It wasn't until then that we realized who we were working for. After all that, all the money disappeared and you could no longer make two loads a day. Everything ran so much less efficiently. It wasn't worth doing anymore. Things were far, far better under mob management. I still think of those fellas and those times a lot.

The landfill where I live is owned by one family that leases the property to the borough. The family also controls the trucks that transport garbage to other landfills.
