I was lucky enough to be in the audience at the Zurich Opera for JDF's role debut of Rodolfo in march 2020, just days before everything was closed down. I did expect to cry at the end, but he already made me tear up with his entrance aria Che gelida manina. The staging was very modern in Zurich, but I would be excited to see him perform it again in another staging. I do hope there will be a stream or Bluray, ROH, pleaaaase?

did i hear Musetta will be sung by a mezzo ... ? Well, if Ailyn Perez, the unique Florez & that so personable Moldavian bariton I don't yet know (will yt search him str8away) weren't plenty to make me dream of this production, hearing a mezzo sing Musetta will (if I heard right).

Florez? PUCCINI???? That is the funniest thing I've heard all week!!!! He was vocally passable as Alfredo a few years ago at the Met --- but --- HE CAN NOT ACT Singing love duets with Damrau was amusing, because I don't think he had a clue, or cared, that she was on stage...lolol .....he had 1 good moment - end of Mio Rimorso -- he walked downstage and belted his C --- it did sound good But, for him to play one of The Most In Love characters in opera ----- that's like Monty Python does opera. 😎😎😎
