I don't hate to say that this song is an absolute banger! Howlin' Pelle immediately grabbed me, while the rest of the band killed it as well! I love their attitude and aggression.
Thanks for watching!

I have to agree with kevin M's comment. I saw The Hives at a music festival about 10 years ago and didn't have high expectations but they were really exciting and great fun.

the hives are amazing. a bunch of super kind nice guys as well. from out the gate i was on to them and scored tickets to thier first US gig off the official websites message board. ended up getting sammed, Niklas Almqvist got a hold of me and put me and my wife on the guest list. never forget that... long live The Hives.

Other bands from that era i loved with great lyrics was Maxïmo Park, the album "A Certain Triger" is amazing! I also like Metric a lot. Albums like "Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?" or "Live It Out" PS: If we inspire you sometimes in the comments, You inspire and help us discover new bands too! Thank you for that. Have a nice weekend.

I also love this song, which has long had a place on my playlists. Still transmits its energy every time I hear it - never bores. I agree that the video was great, too. "Sounds like he really doesn't hate to say that" - I laughed at that!

Unreal band. Got that record in high school in the early 2000s. Blew me away. Hives sound, imo, can be summed up with three records: The Sonics - Here Are the Sonics (1965) Devo - Q Are We Not Men A We are Devo (1978) Saints - Eternally Yours (1978)

I suggest the proto punk Dr Feelgood back in 1975, kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3nQaKh_eJ1nj68 featuring the late Wilco Johnson's inimitable guitar lead and rhythm at the same time! This track is live enough to capture the raw energy that would inspire the likes of the Pistols, Clash, etc. and probably The Hives and Arctic Monkeys tourin Europe together in '23. Enjoy!

So, I completely forgot this song came out in 2000. I'm starting to realize this was actually my gateway song to the rock revival of the early aughts 😮 All this time I thought it was the Strokes, but it was actually the Hives!

There was a little glimmer of old school punkiness, wasn’t there? I was 30 when this came out and when I first heard it, I was struck by how this new song made me feel a bit nostalgic.

I discovered The Hives in the mid 2000s while playing Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2. The songs on the European version of the game were B is for Brutus and Uptight, both from the Tyrannosaurus Hives album I have yet to see them live! 😮

I predict this will be your #1 2023 reaction song…;) Boo…you must listen to “Two-Timing Touch & Broken Bones”. One of the Hives best. I love their more punky short songs like “Die, Alright” and “Untutored Youth”, but they are like a minute or two long. “Tick Tick Boom” will grow some hair on your chest too. A great single up there with Two-Timing Touch and Hate to say I told You so….kisses.

Throw in a🥄full of The Rolling Stones and a sprinkling of 60s garage music and I give you... The Hives! I saw them once or twice at Leeds Festival in United Kingdom (after the infamous riots) I was there too! many years ago. They were always upbeat, daft, fun and posers! but made a few good songs. I believe they are Swedish. - C

Released in 2000, the main riff reminds me a bit of Blur's Song 2 from 1997. But I prefer this song, almost as if this is the song Blur's song could have been if they had tried a bit harder.😉

The first time I heard Song 2 I was somewhere in the NW suburbs of Dallas trying to find my sorry butt to a contract work gig. Late 90s. I had a MapQuest printed out route map. Flown in the night before. I was all sorts of discombobulated. Morning traffic. Song came on in my rentacar radio and it both chilled me out and righted my compass. Man, you do not not want to walk in the door frantic, sweaty, and unsure. First impressions stick. You want to exude humble competence and confidence, but not cocky. You def do not want show up sweaty, confused, and cranky on your first day. Listening to Song 2 for the very first time at volume 11 at 7:30 AM was cathartic release before showing up at a contract gig was perfect timing. I unclenched. I relaxed. I rocked out on the way. That song sharpened me. I focused. I didn't have to fake. I felt competent.
