Man I know that Robin Williams was known as one of the greatest comedians ever, rightfully so. However, I don’t think people truly realize what an outstanding dramatic actor he truly was. Right up there with the greats, like Pacino. He becomes the character. So underrated. Just a genius in everything he did. He is so missed. Truly the only celebrity I have actually cried about when he died.

You're right there Sarah. As I've gotten older my go-to Robin Williams movies have been his serious works. They just seem to stay with me. Not saying his comedic classics don't but I suppose I got a lot of my fill of them as a young kid whereas branching into the dramatic movies he did, the ones that didn't get as much box office spotlight but sure received substantial acclaim, they just offer more intrigue to me now as I've begun a more invested search for them.

One was a master act dramatic actor and the other was a master class comedic actor, the only connection they had was that they both worked with Robert De Niro. Pacino in Heat and he starred in Godfather Part II with De Niro and Williams worked with De Niro on Awakenings.

Williams’ had complete control of this interrogation. He could’ve told the truth at any moment but kept his cool and Pacino losing his cool half way through and trying to break him while still trying to pretend he isn’t in on it then we have Swank slowly but surely figuring everything out. An amazing scene in every way
@misterhanimal

Good observation, but I think you're missing one thing: Pacino acted heated as an opportunity to excuse himself from the interrogation so that he could go recover the placed gun, which he was clued into by Williams.

Robin Williams, one of the greatest actors ever. Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam, Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire, Mork and Mindy, The Birdcage, Good Will Hunting, The Fisher King, etc. And here he plays a bad guy. Chris Nolan : "What I thought of Robin, was, well he is an extraordinary guy to work with and he really gave what I consider to be a flawless performance. I wound up watching the film hundreds of times as we cut it, and I never hit that point with the performance where you start to see the acting. Most performances, at a point, bits start to peel off and away, but with Robin's he was very much in that character. Not that he's a very dark person to work with - he's very lively and friendly and amusing to work with. He really found something within himself. I think it's a very underrated bit of work on his part." Watch this scene carefully again and you see a Masterclass in acting in Robin Williams as he pretends to be as normal as possible. 1:15 myself 2:23 pain from necklace 2:49

Clarence Peterson another good one was when Dormer (Pacino) and Finch (Williams) talk on the phone and Finch taunts Dormer along with sharing his own personal story about having insomnia. It’s a chilling scene and chasing each other on the logs with Dormer falling in. It’s a dark movie and to see Williams play a serial killer shows how much of a genius he was and still is that can act equally in comedies as in dramas.

That’s right. It was a classic cat and mouse game between the good and bad guy and the other people were spectators not knowing what was really going on. Robin Williams was trying to get the police to find the murder gun in the young guys place to blame him and Pacino was trying to have an outburst to get out of there so that he could not succeed in his plan. Remember Pacino had originally planted that gun in Williams place, in the “heating vents in the scurrying boards”. Chilling stare.

I agree with many pointing this is a real underrated movie. Nolan is trying to narrate the story in his own perspective from the Norwegian version. He has his own touch in this film. It has no such celebrational stuff of usual homicides and serial killings, rather the film flows through the emotional and psychological aspects of the primary characters. I feel even the movie seems pretty small, it's real dense in the plot.

This movie was soooooo good. It was the first movie Robin played a villain. Great cast with Pacino Williams hilary swank & Jonathan Jackson. I also thought it was a cool idea to do a movie whew its light 6 months of the year than dark 6 months of the year. People need it to be light than dark. It would feel like it was constantly daytime. Cant imagine how depressing it is when dark all day . I'm In ny and jn december it starts getting dark at 400 than it's completely dark by 5. Even as a little kid I hated that Anyway robin was so creepy as the bad guy bc we are all so used to him as the funny kind hearted one. After he did one hr photo & guested on svu as a bad guy. It's hard to believe out off all the movies he made he was struggling financially . I guess 2 california divorces will do that to u. Its ridiculous how the wife gets half of everything .
