INSPECTING RISERS AND GIVING THE MOTOR SOME TLC

Hey Everyone! I'm back! In this episode, I remove the risers and exhaust manifolds to inspect them. I also give the motor a good cleaning and touch up some paint and rusty spots.

I kkow how you feel .. we just moved last November 2019 and it took me till mid February 2020 to get my garage in enough shape to bring my boat inside .. am just now getting ready to start working in .. cant wait to be able to work on it under cover than being outside in the elements .. so much set up ans tear down .. i wont miss it .. good luck!!

Is that a 305? Hey I have good risers in great condition I'm in Miami this engine has been freshwater it's whole like but now naturally I'm mainly a saltwater guy think I should paint the inside with to prevent the inevitable corrosion

350... I wouldn't paint them, it will fail very quickly.. your best bet is to either switch to stainless manifolds and risers, or to just flush them with fresh water after each use

So your manifolds looked fine? I'm going to replace mine soon. You don't show your manifolds. They didn't look that rusty inside?

No, the manifolds looked in much better condition than the risers... the walls between the exhaust and water jacket were almost non existent on the risers but in very good shape on the manifolds

Glad you're back! How many hours this engine have run? It's in pretty good shape for '96!

Not sure to be honest. It was completely rebuilt several years ago but I don't know how many hours since the rebuild.

Been watching the videos, Great Job. Is this your first? I just finished mine. A year to restore her. Everything except I didn't pull the engine. Maybe this winter. Hope to splash her in a week. Keep it going. Check out my Maxum when you have a minute......
