The Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation combines property market expertise with an understanding of buildings and allows for direct entry to RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) as an Associate member (AssocRICS). The diploma offers the only vocational route into the surveying profession for those without a relevant degree.
The SAVA Scheme is a membership scheme for residential Chartered Surveyors (Associate, Members and Fellows of RICS) and surveyors who hold either the Diploma in Home Inspection or the Diploma in Residential Surveying in order to produce Home Condition Surveys (HCS).

My surveyor did not check the roof loft stating that he doesn’t feel it’s safe and they apparently did not no come with ladder. Now he wants me to hire a ladder and pay the surveyor to return. What do you advise??

A disgrace as they must carry a 3m ladder. Raise this matter with the RICS - its not too late.

Not what happens - Very interesting but in the real world surveyors in the corporate sector must complete the equivalent of two home buyers reports daily and cannot therefore adopt the slow methodical approach you demonstrate - how long do you inspections take in total? On a practical level you should have mentioned that high meter readings are always obtained from masonry chimney stacks - because they are full of salts - and perhaps also damp in cases where external detailing/maintenance is unsatisfactory. Very idealistic. Would have been very interesting to see how you reported your findings!!!

how do you deal with the health hazard of mice, molds and asbestos? assume you have no information of the loft/roof conditions before hand.
