Thank you so much for making the point that we absolutely stand on the shoulders of giants! My background is in art history, and it saddens and frustrates me that so many people believe that mixed media, particularly the “collage arts” owe their existence to KZbin! Go back people - way waaaaay back - and glean some inspiration from those that came before. And what it was all about. So many surprises to be learned. Great video Tracie, thanks for sharing your art & perspective with us!

This is a very interesting point you bring up.. I have seen many photographers that created collages with their photos and I am not sure if it was done in the darkroom or they assembled then with their printed photos but it's been done long before KZbin in various ways

There is nothing new under the sun...because we are all connected we can not but help but to have the same or similar idea(s) as another. To acknowledge this fact is to keep ourselves at a high level of integrity. Thank you so much for bringing the issue to light. Only God holds the true title of being original...we humans can not boost of anything for there is noting that we have which can not be traced back to God not even our own thoughts. Peace and blessings. Beverly

Hi Tracie, I was looking at some of the books I bought many many years ago. Some of the things I see similar to what you do, so you're right nothing is new. In the books... they used paints, combs, forks, and other things around the house to make designs. It's fun watching you and your way of doing what you do Thanks.

Hi Tracie, I really enjoyed this video, and hope you managed to visit Matisse’s exhibition here in London some years ago. His technique of “drawing with scissors” resonated with me and the collages we all do. I think that a series like a challenge -inspired by artists - would be a wonderful idea. Time is not permitting for me to jump into that boat at this stage but others might want to follow.

I have seen some really gorgeous collage art. Like how artist take torn magazine images and use the colors in the images as paint and make like for example a lion. The animal would even have eyes that are alive. Collage has been a big passion for me all my life, like small child and I am now 65. I still don’t think I’m good at it, but I enjoy the process. It is very stress relieving. I see a lot beautiful collage pages from you.

Tracie, Just wanted to add to this great video, that you inspired me to look back into Matisse. In art school, many, many years ago, we studied all these creative artists. Lots of them, I just didn't get or understand, let alone appreciate they're works. But now, I have an entirely new way of seeing his work! He was sooo versatile as well!
