Thanks for recommending my husband’s book! He’s also written books about other illustrators including Bernie Fuchs, Robert Fawcett, and Mead Schaeffer.

As far as I know, he mostly used waterproof colored inks, probably Higgins. I believe he even advertised for them. Really specific look, love Dorne's work. In fact, I love most of the artists you chose to spotlight!

It was ink. He used an extra black ink first, did a tonal wash after line work and then mixed other colored inks with the black to bring the hue down.
