This is the song that played in my head when I got in an accident in my first car. My e36 bmw was totalled by a drunk driver and all my memories I had in that car with my friends and learning to drive manual for the first time and me and my girlfriend having a good time flashed back in my head. the sound of the trees rustling in the wind encapsulates me as i walk through the forest. not knowing what to expect from the path i’m following, i continue on in a passionate stare of curiosity. i then eventually stumble upon a tree. but, it’s not just any tree. it’s a big tree. it must’ve been about 100 feet tall or... maybe even higher. it looked as if it had almost reached the end up the sky. like it had traveled so far up that it had reached the very tip tops of space itself. i run my hand along its textured skin and compliantly move in sync with its intricate and detailed patterns. the smell of the fresh, crisp air overwhelms me as i sink down onto the leaf-covered ground to rest. my mind wanders and my thoughts linger. what would it be like to be that tree? free of responsibility. to be able to do its own thing without fear of judgment from others. to lift its head high up into the clouds, without trying to tear anyone down or compete with others. to stand tall and proud, fearlessly. how brave this tree must be to be able to unapologetically be it’s natural and authentic self. and yet again while subconsciously trying to mask the tree’s own identity. i still continue to think to myself as my mind wanders and my thoughts linger. i wonder what it would be like... to be a tree?
