Dragons' Den

Күн бұрын

Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Phil Neale entered the Den with his sleep app, Snoozle. Rewarding users the longer they stay away from their mobile phones, but tech giant Peter has been pondering how Phil could’ve been more robust with his testing of the market.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

I don't know how common this is, but I listen to KZbin videos to fall asleep, and at this point I can't fall asleep without it. @ayeansh
@ayeansh 2 жыл бұрын
Actually I agree with the Bieber thing... (Gonna be a long story lol). Maybe not the perfect dude for this but many kids (looking at you, my 14 year old self! Now that I feel bad about it but yeah I learnt it the hard way... Getting inspired by these industry giants, ex. Elon Musk saying that he sleeps like 4 hours a day and stuff ... ) And this how people (esp. teens) might get inspired to sleep less in the first place, ofc when the pressure of academics Kicked in a year later... And I was slagging with the schedule... I started going to bed by 22:30 max and waking NOT anytime before 5:00... And trust me it's much better. And when you realise it's just a hoax... I just discovered this interview of Elon where he is saying that any time less than 6 hours of sleep is bad for him, I realise how gullible i was. The problem is that there are MANY people who can get influenced by people they admire advising them to have a "good night's sleep", and there are indeed people who sleep less for this reason so I get the point he made... Although using an app might work for a couple of days for many people, it won't actually help them changing habits... And if it really does, BOOM you ve lost a customer, the entrepreneur can ofc try other methods of monetization and strategies/features and all which might work, I was just talking about my experience.

I feel like the smarter choice for this app would be to have a few ads on it (not bloated or all over the place) for stores and try to create a deal with those stores where they pay you for advertising and the consumer gets a small discount for those same stores as their reward for using the platform. The store is directly generating sales through advertising then and the consumer feels like they got a deal.

I don’t think it’s all that bad an idea, he should’ve focused on the mental health side of how we need sleep and encouraging people not to sleep too much or too little with rewards. As for the 2 minute alarm, I have the standard alarm tone on IPhones which is fine, but makes my skin crawl when I hear it on tv or somewhere. Waking up to the sound of a loved ones voice would be something I’m much more likely to listen to as I wake up to. Of course you’re gonna have those trying exploit the system but that happens on every deal you make with a product.

Many Zoomers will want to go forward getting rid of certain degenerate things. Alcohol is something Zoomers have started to go against and 'lack of sleep being cool' is another one. I feel like the dragons don't really understand millenials. We're not at university any more, we don't brag about burning the candle at both ends and we're the driving force of ASMR which pretty successfully tackles this problem. Still, this app, in 2019... nah. Maybe 10 years ago it'd have been at the forefront of subscription services but there's so much content available for free, and similar apps that I've used in the past have absolutely tanked when they switched to premium models.

Millennials and Generation Z are the most anxious and depressed generation. Mindfulness, wellbeing and self-care are HUGE for our generation and there are millions to be made from it. Whilst I agree that he should have proved his subscription concept, I really think it's a strong idea.
