Hi again Nicole, I just watched a video you made several months ago but of course I cannot find it again, duh! It was all about your designs. I love the deco sweater that you designed in the dark purple and white. Beautiful! That blanket that you made for your sister in law had to be wonderful, I am calling it your Frank Lloyd Wright sweater! I also loved the hat you made for your friend, the Twinch or whatever you called it. I will look online to see if you have the pattern ready yet. I am making Christmas presents, so that you get a great gift. The mosaic cowls are nice, but you surely don’t want anyone to think you are using their patterns. You certainly have enough brains to make your own designs! Not loving that one you called pink, but that last sweater was amazing. I hope you find another stitch and finish the design. Loving that square neckline. I ordered by yarn for the Joinery, but alas no one had enough of the colors I needed for make one like yours soooo, I ended up with the Prune and Ecru. I may wait until I feel that my tension is better before starting though. Happy designing! Hi Oscar, my baby is Tucker and he is a golden doodle.

Oscar says hello back to Tucker! Thanks so much for your kind words about my designs (I think the video you watched was the second one I ever posted). I don't have my patterns published yet, but I'm working on it! The Twinch Hat is pretty close to ready, so I might publish that one first 😊

I had my doubts about The Joinery when you showed it previously but you have convinced me. Your version has turned out so well in your choice of colours. The other patterns featured are a little beyond my ability, or patience, at present but are so interesting. I also like your choice of colours. Some other podcasters seem to be favouring dull neutrals or dark, mustard yellows which not my thing! Thanks for this video.🌹

Hi Knitcole! Love all your wallet-worthy picks this month. I especially like the Jokell. I went down the Ravelry rabbit hole last night for about 8 hours (!) & found a vest similar to the Jokell in that it had random stripes of color here & there on the vest. Pattern is Newfane, yarn is Berroco Dash. The yarn provides the random color stripes. BTW my Buddy hates his nails clipped, too.

Hi Nicole. My first ever top down jumper was from Tin Can Knits. Then I knit the Antler Toque which I love to look at but I really don’t suit beanies / pull on hats. I love the look of their asymmetric cardi which I may just have to purchase. Could I ask if it’s possible that you also give pattern costs in uk £’s and also in euros $ for us away across the pond that love to be inspired by you. Many thanks for your interesting vlogs. 🙋🏼🏴
@Knicoleknits2 ай бұрын
Yay! I'm so glad you love Tin Can Knits patterns 😊 As for the pattern prices, I pull them from the Ravelry pattern page, as they are shown to me, so I see the price in the designer's currency and the currency of the country that I'm in. If you're in the UK, when you look at a pattern page, it should show you the cost in your own currency. I would love to list the cost for everyone on the globe, but I'd have to spend quite a bit of time using a currency conversion app to find them all and I'm sure I'd still end up leaving someone out, which hurts my heart 💖😊

New patterns are always fun to look at, if not knit... One question re the Joinery. I am about to embark on this project except how does on do a swatch when you have the holey part! I wold appreciate some advice. thanks
@Knicoleknits2 ай бұрын
I just did a straight up stocking stitch swatch for joinery. You don’t need to swatch the “join” unless you really want to 😊

@@Knicoleknits OMG my spelling!... thanks for the advice. I am having a hard time trying to figure out the sizing as most of the projects don't mention a size. I like to visualize my project based on the look of finished items. I just watched the video on Ravelry you just did. It has answered all the questions I had.. Thanks

How would those sleeves work under a winter coat?
@Knicoleknits2 ай бұрын
Yeah, that is a consideration and why I often steer away from fuller sleeves. I guess it would depend on the style of the coat. 🤔

As I listen to this video I am doing the final ribbing on a Flax sweater in a lovely purple wool. It's my third Flax. I love Tin Can Knits❤ The antler toque is also a favourite. I have done 3 of those as well. I have questions about Thea Coleman. I abandoned one of her projects (Mango smoothie) in frustration after trying to get the repeating pattern to work. I tried EIGHT times before I threw it across the room then ripped it out and walked away. After reading various things in Ravelry about the pattern, I discovered I was not the only one who had trouble and there was a comment there that said literal knitters might have trouble. I didn't find that helpful. I loved the look of the pattern and her designs are beautiful but if all her patterns are "for intuitive knitters" I will not bother again. What are your thoughts?
@Knicoleknits2 ай бұрын
Hmmm…that’s not my experience with her patterns, but I’m curious now and will do some research into that pattern and compare it to ones that I’ve done to see what’s what. 😊
@wendyboughton11402 ай бұрын
@@Knicoleknitsthanks. I curious to know what you find. I was really invested in the design and tried my best but I just couldn't make it make sense. It is the only knitting project I have ever abandoned. Ever.😕
@Knicoleknits2 ай бұрын
Hi again, Wendy 😊 I finally had a minute to review a few things and get back to you. I'm actually doing a test knit for Thea Colman right now and I can assure you that she is VERY focused on wanting her patterns to be as easy to follow as possible. Having said that, her designs do tend to be more complex than average. With a few exceptions, I would not recommend her patterns to beginner sweater knitters (Flax, on the other hand, is a perfect first sweater!). I looked over the Mango Smoothie pattern and here are my observations: The pattern was published over 10 years ago. ALL designers get better at pattern writing over time, so her more recent patterns are written a bit differently. There's a LOT going on at the same time in this pattern - different chart repeats and shaping. It can be a challenge for any knitter to keep track of all that. In one of the project notes labeled "helpful" the knitter suggested graphing out the first 9 rows to see what was happening across the whole row. This is an excellent suggestion and something I have done myself on occasion (even though I would consider myself and intuitive knitter), similar to how I set up my pattern blueprints (there's a video for that 😉) . If you'd like some specific help with the Mango Smoothie pattern, feel free to send me an email at knicoleknitsdesign@gmail.com with details of where it went wrong for you and I'll see if I can clarify a sticking point for you. 😊
@wendyboughton11402 ай бұрын
@@Knicoleknits thank you for your thoughtful reply. I have come to peace with never having a Mango smoothie (lol) but I appreciate that you took the time to look at it. I did, in fact, write out the first nine rows and dis all the other stuff as well. I just couldn't get it. Oh well. I have done several sweaters in the past few years and was looking for a challenge. Apparently it was too big a challenge! I moved on to the Avalanche sweater by Heidi Kirrmaier and loved every minute of it😊 I do love Thea Coleman's pattern names and I think her designs are lovely so I will try something else of hers someday soon. Cheers and thanks again!

I hope you don't mind a question about choosing sizes... If I have a pattern that recommends say, 4" of positive ease, do I take the bust measurement and add four inches? Then choose the size based on the total? Thank you!
@KnicoleknitsАй бұрын
I never mind questions! 😀 When they suggest 4" of positive ease, that means the finished circumference of the garment should be 4" larger than your bust measurement. So if your bust is exactly 40" and there's a size that finishes at 44" - that's your 4" of positive ease. Does that make sense? 😊
@KYERRNАй бұрын
@@Knicoleknits It does! Thank you so much! I'm making my daughter a sweater for the first time and somehow have ended up with 10" of positive ease. I'm just going to name it Ranunculus2 and call it a day! 😅
