thank you for this, my mum's side of the family is from hong kong so I grew up with cantonese but we live in the UK so I lost most of it once I started at (white) school 😥 I'm 24 now and recently started feeling really sad and regretful that I lost a whole language I used to know, I have no idea how to start re learning it but the phrases in this video rang so many bells it's kinda like magic haha, I hope one day I'll be able to speak and understand cantonese again past the basics

I lived with among Chinese who are speaking Cantonese. sometimes it is hard to communicate with them because they are not fluently used the native language. hence, take an initiative to learn this language for easy understanding.

Same for me, I learned Chinese for all 6 years in china and all the time I hear zero Chinese but 101% Cantonese only. It's so few on KZbin

This is a great video! I think it would be helpful if the Chinese appears at the beginning at the same time as the English text, so we can have time to read before saying it along with the voice (example, #82). In any case, thank you for making the video, it's very helpful =)

Great idea! We will try to do that in the next video. You can also download the free transcript at inspirlang.com/video/ so that you can look at the phrases ahead of time :).

I like this video so much. If you don't mind, I would like to ask your permission to share this video to the other website in China for the embarrassing reason that KZbin is blocked fromac cessing in China. Of course, I will give sources of the original website. Thank you very much.

These are mostly just vocab, I'd like to see a video that has full sentences like "I went to the theatre yesterday" "Jacob's dog is brown" "Please open the window" stuff like that
It is challenging to locate Cantonese resources, including textbooks and other educational materials.

Can someone explain why there number like 5, 2 after the words?
@xiaxia46199 ай бұрын
Yes, The numbers mean the accent of the word. In Cantonese there are 6 accents, the first 3 are high sounds (or you have to maintain vibration), while the rest are low tones. It's a simple answer to your answer, sorry if I'm not too clear! I am studying Mandarin and Cantonese, I recommend learning about accents in Mandarin so that you become familiar with the tones :))

Those are the six tones in Jyutping, the Romanization system I use for Cantonese. You can find more info about Jyutping here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZnOmYhogLh5osk&lc=UgwXWB5bEtBlzFq9N154AaABAg.
