I usually don't comment. But I really liked the manner in which you make the videos. Very informative and looks gorgeous. Keep it up. Greetings from Russia)

Ok check this out in glad i saw this review, but with the venture case, or the new lens caps for the one x2 you can coat them with neverwet which is a hydrophobic coating and the drops and snow will fall right off. You can coat the top sheet for your board too its great for powder.

I would only be worried that it would somehow distort the video a little

Really cool... I want to start getting into filming some of my boarding (Whistler). The footage handheld with no stick actually looks awesome! I have the same red Mind Expander :) Hotham used to be my fav mountain in Oz, this footage makes me want to ride it again!

Also some follow cam tips with a fish eye you want to get as close as you can and at a low angle, with the follow cam footage through the terrain park you were wayy too far
@SnowboardRobot4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I definitely agree, especially with this camera you pretty much need to be touching the rider to make it look any good, but it's a decent risk to the camera - I'm sure i'll take more as it gets older and I don't worry about it so much.

Your reviews are awesome! So if you had to take one with you for a day of snowboarding, which would you the Insta360 or the Osmo Pocket and why?
@SnowboardRobot4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If it was a powder day, I would take the insta360 if I was trying to film myself, though every normal day I will have the osmo pocket with me. It is small enough that I don't notice when it is in my pocket, and the quality of the footage is so good. Also not being super wide angle, it is easier to film people without having to ride super close to them.

Which resolution/framerate are you using? I really like the footage where you just hold the camera in your hand and film the tip of your board
@SnowboardRobot3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it is all just the basic 5.7k at 30fps

Hey Lachy, great review. sold me on a 360 cam for snowboarding. I have 2 questions - what video settings work best for the snow and what can you do premiere pro that you can't in the Insta360 one?
@SnowboardRobot3 жыл бұрын
The Insta Studio has been updated now, so there probably isn't much/anything that you can't do in it now. It is more that I will be editing tons of footage in premiere, so rather than doing half the editing in Insta Studio then exporting to get it into Premiere, I find it easier to do it all in Premiere. I do use the lend curve setting in GoPro Reframe though, to get rid of some of the 360 cam look sometimes. I generally use 5.7k 30fps for everything, sometimes with log colour, though the basic settings all work fine. Being a 360 cam there isn't too many settings/need to change compared to any other camera, it does a pretty good job at most things. It does do a much much better job when the sun is out and there it plenty of light around.

I take it this camera has no built-in stabilisation? is it all done in the software afterwards?
@SnowboardRobot2 жыл бұрын
As far as I know it is all software stabilisation, though I never have to change anything other than pick the angle that I want it to be pointing at.

It's at Big White in BC, Canada, its a super nice place, there aren't too many spots that get those snow ghosts.

I guess that is a good thing if there aren't many people selling them. I am pretty sure that their new one the One R does the same 360, but also can film GoPro style stuff as well, but it costs a lot.
@FlowFinderUSA3 жыл бұрын
Let me ask you. If I wore the camera on a 'chesty' can you just use in 360 mode so you can record in higher quality like 4 or 5k? Like a GoPro (straight ahead)? I see that the video resolution is only: Wide Angle (Steady Cam Mode): 2560x1440@50fps, 30fps. That's not true 4K. Thanks!
@SnowboardRobot3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure about what the 2 can do, I only have the first version. In that case where you would be wearing it just to film forwards, I think that a GoPro in superview mode is going to get you better results overall, though maybe with the tiniest drop in stability.

@@SnowboardRobot Oh my apologies I see now that you'r reviewing the One X. I think you're right though!
