You know what would be a wicked video and sorry if I missed something similar previously but one on understanding conditions from weather forecasts and snow reports before heading to the mtn if possible. I’m just learning and trying to decipher whether to embark on the expensive and timely journey when it’s kinda those spring conditions with little to zero recent snowfall, are those trips worth it? I could call the mtn and ask but it might be nice to have a good sense of judgement on my own if possible depending on forecasts. And how do these different conditions affect your learning? Should you be pushing yourself in all terrain or holding out for less icy days in your first season? Packed groom vs slush vs ice… I’d find that super helpful! I’m in BC Canada so probably a little spoiled for snow and maybe a tad too picky haha. Also, when you’re at the mtn and you’re about to get started what are the telltale signs of ice without falling to find out haha? Any info on conditions and learning would be amazing! Then even as you progress is it worth avoiding certain days? Thanks again, love your content!!!

Hey! Nice review! I have a question. How to avoid image being warped with this camera? I mean a warp like you could see at 0:52 on the cables of the lift.
@malcolmmoore2 жыл бұрын
You can change the fov to be more or less warped. On just the one pole I kept it more as a fisheye, but the longer you get the camera away from whatever you're shooting the more you'll be able to punch in and remove that fisheye effect 👍

I bought a cheapo camera, the Akaso, and it's decent enough. But good point on having nothing to worry about missing shots with a 360 camera. I always fall down or get stuck in flat areas when I try to film because I'm more conscious about where there camera is pointing than looking at where I'm going. I just don't know if the cost is justified for me that I don't really use it that much, just take some videos as souvenirs from the once or twice a year trips to other resorts.

As a hobby photographer, I do know how ultra wide angle makes the steeps look much flatter, but the tunnel never looked as easy as in this video... 😜 🤡 Besides being small and tiny, the other advantage is that being not extremely expensive, its much easier to use/carry with piece of mind. While the weight of a camera backpack does become annoying once it makes getting up from a sitting position hard or impossible and you end up rolling around onto your knees to get up like a beginner again, I find the biggest limitation is that you do ride way more careful and slow as you never ever want to fall and possibly cause harm all that equipment in the backpack... What would be cool is to have/make something like the unicorn mount attach to a backpack or some sort of shoulder harness or the front of ones board, to get that camera in front look of holding the stick without having to hold it and with the hands free to use in some tricks or to wave around in the quest to maintain balance in some wonky moguls. 😉 Ultimate dream still remains that completely autonomous flying drone follow-cam that keeps tracking you while dodging obstacles etc. all on its own - one day technology gonna be there. 🤔

Hi Malcom, Ive been working through almost all your vids - amazing stuff. In many of your tutorials for beginners you talk about the weight shift of crossing the hips over the board midline to initiate turns. Looking at the last bit of footage in this vid makes this a little clearer (unicorn cam) but I wonder if you could put the cam somehow on your hips to really demonstrate this? Just wondering - probably be a nightmare lol. keep gringing man - you are going to blow up soon (metaphorically, not literally)

This might be better. I bought a cheapo Akaso camera but the angle isn't good and I find myself getting into more trouble using it because I'm looking more at the camera than where I'm going. With the insta360, you capture everything so you're not worried if you're holding it at the right angle. Of course there's still that issue of having to hold something while you snowboard, but at least it's one thing off your mind if you're getting a good shot or not.

There's been a few different selfie sticks that they've had over the years, ones that just pull out, to one's the screw lock, with the latest iteration being the stiffest and lightest. I'm sure there's other brands that make them but if you're spending the money on the camera I wouldn't bother trying to save a small amount of money with a knock off stick, I would just go for the one that insta360 make.
