The microphone cover is an absolute game changer imho, no need for media mods or foam covers. 8k for crop in is decent too. I wouldn’t bother with the accessories you recommend other than the magnetic mount.

i like your review a lot! I'm having an X4, do you think ace pro 2 would be a nice addition or unnecessary? Frankly after your footage I think I don't need it.

I don't think you need it if you already have the X4. I think a good combo is DSLR + X4 or DSLR + Drone. But if you're getting just one camera, I would recommend the Ace Pro 2 for most people becuase it's like something in between a DSLR and an Action camera, so you get the best of both worlds.

I just checked and it looks like they backtracked on it and now only a slightly larger case is available: store.insta360.com/product/ace-pro-2-carry-case?from=products_recommended I do agree that it's a bit weird because right now, they aren't offering even a small, regular fabric sleeve or anything like that to protect it. Let's hope that they're just struggling with production and that it will be available soon! If not, I'm sure you can find some alternative 3rd party case that fits the regular Ace Pro. I think they're the same size.

Sounds great! I received mine a couple of days ago. I've been testing it and it shoots really amazing both videos and photos! I accidentally dropped it without a case cover and only a nick on the viewing monitor that flips. Solid as a rock! The audio is perfect overall for such a tiny machine!

Yeah honestly I should have included it looking back at this! But I don't really see a reason why you would want to shoot without HDR. To conserve file size or battery maybe? For low-light, you got PureVideo mode (shown in the video), which doesn't use HDR. In daylight, I would always want to shoot with HDR on anyway. By the way, 8k30fps and 4k120fps shots starting from 02:28 are shot without HDR because it's supported only up to 4k60fps.

I think that was the case with the previous version of the Ace Pro. I don't know about this version though. But it has a better image sensor compared to the previous version. Anyway, I think that realistically, the footage is comparable to an entry-level DSLR, which would cost very similarly!

No 10-bit color, weighs heavier than competitors, no larger sensor, no cloud storage /upload and delete option like go pro, and this year one less "budget model" released. No significant updates from insta 360 at all!!!
