Thank you. I’ll give it a like for the info it does give, but low likes are possibly because it’s really not a “Complete Beginners Tutorial”. It dives right into using it, skipped what accessories come with it, getting it to connect, etc. I searched “how to use” because mine is not linking, connecting or showing me different modes etc. Great looking and informative video. But I can’t use the info until I actually get it to connect and work right and show me the different modes.

Thank you very much! It is your guide that was the most useful for me to get up and running with my go2 (64gb) in a matter of minutes. My favorite was guidance on setting all the button presses to one mode - genius! Pro all the way and edit the footage or grab snapshots in the app in post. I appreciate this beginners guide very much. This camera, as a casual user that just wants to capture personal memories and pull it together in iMovie to replace scrapbooking, makes the event itself so much more fun for me. Less fiddling with GoPro settings, less pulling out the phone, it’s tiny and unobtrusive and therefore an awesome travel companion that can tolerate water sports. I feel my GoPro will be retired and sold to a more loving home soon. I’m loving this little camera.

I just received my Go 2 and had a lot of doubts about of the camera( the standar 10minutes recording of pro mode piss me of) but now thx to your video i think its good purchase!! I have a question about pivot stand, is strong enough to be mounted directly on the front of a motorbike or in a helmet and resist the wind? Thanks for your comment - I wouldn’t risk the pivot stand on your motorbike but you could tether it on a short tether and then it would make it safer.

Thanks for the comment. I will be making an editing tutorial soon. There’s not a lot you can do in the desktop software to be honest, it’s mainly aimed at 360 reframing. I have made a tutorial about it already but aimed at 360 cameras - the software is very limited.

Great tips and thanks for the tutorial ! One question, when I have the POV with the magnet around my neck, I tend to have my chin appearing on the video. How can I solve that ? Maybe in post-production ?

If you shoot in pro mode and at the higher resolution you can then easily adjust the field of view in the app to make it narrower and lose your chin 👍🏼

I think Horizon lock crops the image as it needs the extra part of the image to correct the movement if that makes sense. So yes only linear I think off the top of my head with horizon lock. Stabilisation should be there but with pro mode you have to apply it in the app.

I thought the audio just faded out automatically at the end - I know you can adjust where the music starts by tapping the track and selecting edit - I couldn’t see any other adjustments.

Very informative video, I have the older GO, what I like to see in GO2 is the front light should be on top of it, so that I know the camera is ON and also I can take a secretive video without anyone knows i m recording. Is there a way where you can off the flickering light?

Yes you can go into the settings menu on the charge cradle and turn the led light off - I can’t remember if you can do that with the Go1. I agree I’d love to see the light in a different position or at least have a second light with the ability to turn both off. Thanks for the comment

Not sure on the temperatures. There’s no sd card, you can buy a 32gb version or a 64gb, all internal memory - yes you can shoot while charging and can attach a powerbank for longer record times.

For some reason I think they removed this from the app. Once you’ve edited you could import the edit into the GoPro story editor and add text that way or use something like the iMovie app

I can’t tell you exactly but I know it works quite quickly, within a few seconds. You can manually stop it by pressing the button regardless of the time you set.

This guide is awesome. I’m on a the fence about buying it. But wanted to ask whether you need your phone and the insta case nearby in order for the remote use of the camera to work? I’m performing in the opening ceremony of the commonwealth games this summer and would love to capture the moments I’m performing from the stadium floor. This camera looks ideal as it’s so small so I can discreetly wear it on my outfit but will it work if it’s not near my phone/Wi-Fi as I doubt I’ll be able to get these items in with me. Also is it true this camera is prone to overheating if recording for long periods? And last question, does it last long enough to do the 15min+ clips if it’s not in the charging case?

Thanks for the comment - the battery sucks and might last for one 15 min clip out of the case but no more than that. Yes you’ll need your phone or case nearby to operate the camera. I’m not sure how you are performing - singing, guitar or something else but a 360 camera positioned somewhere might be better so you can reframe it easily afterwards. The difficulty is being near enough to start it. I think with the GoPro you can set a delayed start so it turns on and starts recording. Sounds fun though - good luck with it

Hi I have a question here. When I export the video from the camera to my phone, the quality looks good but it takes ages...plus there is a watermark of insta 360 on the video too. If I drag the file to my laptop using USB, it's much faster but the video quality is bad (only 720 or 480p?). Could you suggest how I should export? Thank you.

You can turn off the watermark in the settings on the app - it’s in the same menu you use to change the button settings and is called. When you transfer to computer it will transfer duplicate files and the ones called LRV are low resolution files - you can delete these and scroll down further and you’ll see the higher resolution clips which will start with pro if you’ve shot in pro mode.

If you want a 360 camera then yes the one x2 is my preferred camera - for that I usually use 64gb sandisk extreme cards but most of my shots are short. The 256 will be fine as well but remember if you lose the card or it fails that is a lot of footage to lose which is why I have several smaller cards instead.

Yes but I always back up the card to my pc as well. You can edit direct from camera so make sure the clip has been downloaded to your phone before deleting.

how far away can you be for connection signal from your phone app to the camera? If i press record from my phone and the camera goes far away, will it continue recording or it'll stop since not in signal range?

It loses signal after say 5m but usually carries on recording and then you can reconnect once you’re in range again

I think it’s great for cycling as you can put it in so many positions easily. It’s better without the case though so you’ll need other mounts. It’s no good for long journeys out the case just short shots as the battery out the case isn’t that good.

Hi, it’s still a great camera and yes the app is universal across all Insta360 cameras so works fine and is constantly getting updates. You will get just under an hour in pro mode and double that in standard video mode. There is also a 64gb version which will double these figures. The worst thing is battery life as you’ll get 15-20min in one go but the good thing is you can recharge it in the case 3 times I think. I’m not sure if there’s a Go3 coming out - we don’t get told until the last minute a lot of the time. Even if something did come out you’d find it easy to sell on eBay. But from Amazon as you’ll get it quicker and you have your 30 day return period. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated 👍

Hi Rich, first off, thank you for the great video. I have a query that I’m hoping you can help me with. Today I got my Insta360 Go 2 and I’m loving it, but I’m a bit confused about something. I did a test video and then connected the camera to my Mac to view the files (before I opened up the Insta studio software for editing) and I noticed that the camera has recorded the same video twice (one was just over a GB in size and the other was around 450mb). Is this the norm? And if so, how come it does that? Thanks!

The second file is an LRV file which is low resolution file and this is used to help you preview it on the app and in the studio software. It’s the other file you need , the bigger one. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼

Question for you ... So I'm actually using an Insta360 Go 2 and when shooting in Pro mode I can only get about 3-4mins before the recording stops. At this point it's hit or miss if I get a saving error. This is the 64g version of the Go 2. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?

You can only do that with a 360 camera not a Go2 - it’s the camera that makes it invisible because it gets hidden in between the two lenses (the stitch line).

I’m not sure what you mean - where is the app icon and where do the # appear. What is it you are trying to do exactly?

It’s just the icon.....but it has a red “#” to the upper right that keeps climbing as if there are notifications.....like your email app icon might show a number “4” on the icon letting you know you have 4 emails if you open the app.

Strange - there are notifications in the app if you’ve signed in - on the phone these are in the top right in the envelope icon - these areas usually likes and messages from photos you’ve posted within the app - that’s all I can think of

Hi Liz, I use 1440p at 50 frames per second which gives you the option of slowing things down to half speed which gives you nice smooth movement. I use vivid colour profile and keep everything else on auto.

Have you had any issues with stabilisation? I've had to calibrate mine 3 times already. I noticed that it had been sitting next to my iPhone magsafe charger and wondered if that could have affected the calibration somehow. But if the Go 2 uses magnetic attachments why would this be the case? I've kept it away from the magsafe for the time being and haven't had a problem since, but will keep my eye on it. I just wondered if you'd had any similar problems or heard of it happening to anyone else.

I haven’t yet - maybe raise it with insta360 just in case it’s a problem with the camera or put it on the Go2 Facebook group and see if anyone else has experienced it.

May i know if the go 2 is able to connect to the app on the phone after removing the go 2 from the casing?

Hey, hopefully you see this before I decide about getting one. I know the camera is called Insta(360) but on the go 2, is there a 360 view mode? And if so, how do I use it. I’ve been trying to find someone on KZbin for the past hour to show how they can do 360 view on the go 2, and no one is using it I don’t think. One of the main reasons why I was going to get the camera is to use the 360 view. Hopefully you get this, have a great day 👍

Hi, no this doesn’t do 360 unfortunately. Insta360 started with 360 cameras but have now expanded and not all their cameras and lenses are for 360. It would be great to have a 360 camera this small though so maybe in the future.

What is the minium phone spec requirements to use app android? Ive been to the 360 site and the suggested phones are above my price range. If i have to pay $1000 up for a phone and $300 plus accesories thats a possible $1500 cost... I like your videos there are awesome.

If your quick capture is set to Record for a minute and you press it again 30 seconds into your recording will it extend the time to 90 seconds?

You can’t use an external Mic with go 2 unfortunately

Yes apparently it’s an intelligent charge case and won’t just keep it on and keep charging it unnecessarily but I haven’t tested it over a long period

You can use the story editor in the app to join clips together - I’m not sure if there is a maximum overall length but I’m sure 30min will be fine

I just got my go2 and it so far has constantly disconnected when trying to shoot video from the phone app. It seems to do the same thing with the case or does not even connect, despite being in my pocket or hand. Is this normal, is there a fix?

This is not normal - I would try it with another phone (ideally someone’s iPhone if you’re using android or just another model) to prove it’s not the phone and then contact insta360 and tell them what you’ve tested so they know it could be the camera. You could try reinstalling the app maybe. Sorry I can’t help more - contact insta360 ASAP though so the problem is logged.

Got mine today and it doesn't work. I charged it and connected it to the app and left it. Came back to it later in the day and the charging unit keeps saying "press to connect" and then times out and the camera itself does nothing.

If you took the camera out of the cradle and left it then it may have run out of battery. If not then it Sounds like a duff unit and you should send it back straightaway

It should hold if you’re wearing a thin tee shirt to stop it swinging around. If it’s a lying down slide you’d only be looking upwards though. You might be better off with a wrist mount.

I have tried my insta Go2 for snorkling, but somehow it always seems to switch from pro mode back to regular video mode. The only key I can use under water is the button on the camera itself. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

I think On the remote it does default back for some reason. If you set all the button presses to pro mode using the app though this should mean you’ll use pro mode whenever you use the camera button itself.
