Nice review I have been trying to decide between this and the GoPro to replace my old GoPro don't use to much and always wanted to give 360 a try so went for this. Being watching quite a few videos before buying should get in next day or so. Still looking at different videos and enjoyed yours know I have made the right choice.

Is it possible to use this camera traditionally and just export video files via the SD-card or do you always need to go through the proprietary software of Insta360? That would seem like a bit of a hurdle if you shoot a long vacation without loading it onto a laptop every day.

Yes. Get the cold shoe mount for the cage and the audio port mod and then connect.

Tired of the GOPRO illusion. Selling cameras that overheat and destroy memory cards. I got the One RS because at 24 FPS the camera doe not overhead and keeps on till the batteries run out.

Just the 4K boost edition is good enough. Not sure if you will use the 360-edition that often.

I'm trying problems with overheating, crashing videos with few minutes recorded and file corruption with my insta360 one rs, have you ever had any of these problems or have you heard something about? I only use the best memory cards and necessary equipment, the problem is really with the camera.

Hmm, this is weird - never had overheating issues with this camera. Have you tried with a different microSD card?

Good option for a reasonable price considering the other cameras. I would be considering buying if the sound would improve... But... I think for now if I need a camera I would choise a litle older dji pocket 2.

DJI Pocket 2 is indeed lovely. And now - when you mention this point - this is indeed the case, and Insta360 are among the few companies that didn't go crazy about pricing this year!

The unbiased commentary is appreciated. I use the original Osmo Action and really like it, but am considering the Insta360RS 4K only package. Too bad (though understandable) the screen is so tiny. That’s the only thing that is hold me back from buying one. I really like to frame my shots when recording on the Osmo.

Dattebayo!!! Lol! It's been sometime since I watched Naruto... I'm still with my GoPro 8, I always ask myself, if I'd need to buy an action cam right now, what would I take? and my thoughts are mixed... The One RS (and the R which I did review too) is awesome and has lots of functionality and everything, but on the other hand I still feel like the GoPro is the one to go if you want to just record and forget, water, falls hard beating it won't care mostly. for some reason the modularity of the One RS gives me the feeling it's not that "hardcore" and can break easier.

My son used to draw him a lot some months ago :D Hero 8 is still a beast! In the past weeks I actually have used the One RS a lot more often than I expected - which is really positive. The only thing I miss is a slightly larger display.

Would have been helpful if you'd have shown the 5.3K in the GoPro vs. Insta 360 capping out at 4K. It's a big difference in quality.

Hey Tom, thanks for the question! Right now the firmware is not covering this as far as I can see on Insta360's website. But it looks like a matter of time since the FAQ promises the new core to work with the old 4K Mod. I'd strongly recommend thinking about the new 4K boost lens - difference is signidicant. The upgrade between R and RS is a lot bigger as compared to the jumps GoPro was doing between 6,7 and 8 for instance.

For your information... The Camera will not record longer videos than 30 Minutes. Reaching the time limit, it will stop, and then start a new recording. There will bi 10-15sec gaps between the recordings. I already sent mine back. It makes nice videos but not capable to record gapless is a nogo for me...
