@@jackyfan I have both, if there is interest I can make a video of it. To be honest, the 1" isn't what I thought it would be. It's pretty big and bulky and I haven't seen the wow factor compared to my previous X3. haven't played with the X4 too much but I'll test the 8k on it today and really compare and see if the 1" sensor really is that much better in daylight. I know at night it's definitely better.

@@PepesTowingService There’s already some comparisons on KZbin. It seems like the initial influencer reviews entirely avoid the topic, and now it’s pretty clear. The 1” sensor provides great low light performance but otherwise the x4 (a cheaper camera) devours the RS 1-inch in almost all other categories. No wonder they don’t want their sponsored reviewers to even talk about it to avoid cannibalising their more expensive camera.

(Won’t stop me from trying) But even a LOG profile in 8 bit with standard color space transforms would be better for dynamic range. Isn’t that the point of throwing 8k into a 360 camera? First off - CONGRATS! Second - This review is the one that Insta360 should be showing people! In my experience with these cameras - they are NOT action cameras and the second they hit the ground - or snow - or anything - the lens scratches - so the fact that you are using this casually and you even mention the lens guards and talk about this issue - I almost....might....consider...getting this.

The warping of anything close or semi-close to the lens is a bit off-putting. But I guess you need to make some compromises to get 360. I couldn't imagine relying on this as a main cam, but I could definitely imagine using something like this for b-roll footage. How does it do under the sun? Can it manage 8k without overheating?

Congrats on the wedding bells! Love my X3 for some outdoor scenarios or very well-lit indoor activities. But the key is light. The X3 is, in my opinion, completely unusable unless light is abundant. Kinda sad to see the X4 is "noise, but noise in 8K". Sounds harsh, I know, but it's just the nature of most action cams. I know it's virtually impossible, but I'd much, much rather use a 1", micro four thirds, or APS-C sensor at 1080P/2.7K than a 1/2" sensor at 4k-8K. Maybe one day. Either way, my X3 is always in my EDC. I'll probably skip the X4 since I have the X3, but if I didn't have the X3, I'd definitely grab an X4. Overall it definitely looks better. -Johnny

Hey, Gene! I find that decreasing the Midtone Detail in Davinci Resolve helps mitigate the oversharpening that small sensors usually have. I tested with some X3 footage, and it works. If you ever try it, Let me Know
