Been using a GoPro 13 on my helmet for motovlog pov and Insta360 for different angles. You don’t need to choose one or another, you can use both combined. If GoPro don’t get better I will definitely go for a Osmo Action and keep my insta360.

Thanks for sharing! Combining those 2 cameras is perhaps the best idea. X4 is not for the long footage to my opinion. But it will give so much extras to the video.

I had the X4 and got rid of it. Right now, I use the action 5 most followed by the DJI pocket 3. I do find myself using the Action 5 now more than the Pocket though. My DJI Air 3S is awesome!!!! On my current trip, the image quality is great!!

Thanks for sharing. May I ask what was the main reason of getting rid of X4? Because since I purchased it - I mostly use it for all shots. Of course, with DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

Lol same for me. Bought myself a X4 for Christmas and was really disappointed with the video quality whenever the conditions were not 100% ideal. I returned it (still waiting on my money, Insta360 shop team) and got myself a Action 4. It produces far better quality recordings than the X4 and costed less than half of the price. Also much quicker to work with in post as there is no need to reframe anything. But that might be up to preference.

Thanks for the feedback. I also have Action 4 as my spare durable action camera. But after I purchased X4 - my tandem now is Osmo Pocket 3 with X4.

I was a disappointed x2 user here I got the premium insta 360 clip on lens guard for my x2 previously on a extended tripod, it fall when strong wind blew, popped open the lens guard and scratch the lens and I stopped using 360 cam after. Thanks for sharing! Yes, X2, X3, X4 cameras are fragile due to their spherical lenses. We either must accept it, if we want that kind of videos, or just use a regular action camera.

Good question. But unfortunately- nothing can be done. With FOV Boost lens we can expand the view. But still it will remain a single lens view.

The X4 you have to do post production to get out the final video, for some people that is very cumbersome. idk why but X4 render on the the phone (Galaxy S22) is just impossible, even on proxy mode and downloaded the video, you wont be able to render your most of your videos. I always have to use my PC. Also the quality is 1080p (narrow) to 1440p (mega) depending on the framing. the 180 degrees is 4k on each lens, which makes up the 8K in total. Then at night its better to use 5.7k 60fps, but if you have it attached to your bicycle or at hand without selfiestick, you will see a lot of jitter on any bumps. If you hold the camera of a selfiestick you are essentially working as a gimbal with your hand and selfiestick = less jitter and more stable. Even holding a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 on a 1,5m long selfiestick you will see less bouncing/bopping that way. For battery in normal use I had to charge X4 faster than the DJI OA5 and the X4 would heat up considerably more. For speed I think how fast you can start recording when the camera is shutdown is the biggest and most common usage for any user and DJI OA5 is clearly faster to bootup and start recording.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I mostly use Insta360 Studio on the desktop Macbook M1 Max - and it is extremely fast. Regarding the lowlight mode - I agree with 5.7k. However, I try not to use action camera with bad lighting at all. DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is always the best. In general, my feeling was that Insta360 has much more unique opportunities how to create some special video, whether Action 5 Pro is a camera for capturing in action, that makes it much easier. @@SupersonicTraveller yeah you can do wacky things with the 360 camera, but the quality always comes second. It can also be kinda hard to pair with other footage that have more details on the surfaces (not sharpness) and more natural look. Yes, I absolutely 100% agree. 360 cameras are not ready yet for the complete footage, for the large screen, but only for the b-roll and effects, that make the main footage more special. But also, for Instagram, Tiktok etc it suits perfectly. I have watched the video you shared - perhaps, if not looking deeply into the details - I would say that both look fantastic.

Loved the review and totally agree. I use the pocket 3 and the x4 which I upgraded from the x3. Now I am no expert in video by any shot, but I find the x4 amazing as an action camera. Especially on Roller Coasters 360 pov

Hey! I think you should not compare 8k in a 360 environment with 4k in a flat environment. Because when reframing the Insta360 8k footage and exporting as a flat video the resolution will be lower then 4k on the DJI… And your low light test is not a real low light test where the supernight mode is dedicated to. When comparing the stabilization you should at least compare horizon balancing on the OM5 with the 360 mode on Insta360. Anyways thanks for the efforts ypu have put into making this video!

i had the go pro hero 12 for 1 year, i loved this camera for the image quality, durability, stabilization and ease of use for my motorcycle outings, but i found it a shame to be limited to a single angle of view for a given moment, the software on mobile also usable but not incredible. so i decided to change it for an insta360 x4 and i really don't regret it, the image quality is largely sufficient for my needs, the 360 stabilization as you presented it is really good, the software very useful and understandable, the microphones are also very good i think you didn't really talk about them and of course the number of accessories you can use. in conclusion, as you said, I found more positives than negatives compared with other action cameras for my needs, but I'll keep the osmo pro 5 in mind if I ever want to add another action camera in addition to the x4. thank for the video 😊

Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate it a lot! I didn't test microphones, indeed, because I found, that during the video editing in DaVinci or CapCut there are tools, that could enhance the voice so good, that no matter on which device it has been recorded.

Nice review. x4 is very fragile, resistance and durability is one of the main points that an action camera must have. That's why I would choose DJI.

I agree, and DJI is an absolute winner here. With 360 camera there always will be a gap between the features and the durability due to the spherical lenses.

Congrats with the new camera! It was a really good one! Action camera is mostly for activities, like swimming, scuba diving, motocross, etc. You can use it also for street vlogging. The advantage is that action camera doesn’t need to focus. Hope you will enjoy it! Happy New Year!

Good question. For the lower frame rate the camera will use a longer shutter speed. It means, that more light will enter the camera for each frame. For example, when we use 30 FPS - it means, that shutter will be opened 1/60 of second for each frame. But when we use 60 FPS - the shutter will be opened twice shorter time, only 1/120 of second.
