Well said!! I'll also add that when Jacob Collier tries to learn your arrangement of 'Happy Birthday', you know you're a legend!! :-) One of the best KZbin videos I've seen in a long time. Two out-of-this-world musicians. So inspiring.

Man I wish I had perfect pitch, not that it would necessarily make me a good musician but after watching this stream and the one with Charlie Puth--it is crazy how they communicate ideas so effortlessly
@jasonruffjr3107
@jasonruffjr3107 3 жыл бұрын
I'm currently learning perfect pitch and creating an app that will allow me to do perfect pitch training 24/7, believe me my friend, it's not as difficult as you think.
@FinlayPacks
@FinlayPacks 3 жыл бұрын
@@jasonruffjr3107 its not possible to just learn it over a certain age, there have been many studies that find this, you are probably training memory of notes, which lets you remember notes, which is different to perfect pitch, as you are trying to recall notes from memory rather than just instantly knowing what it is
@nezkeys79
@nezkeys79 3 жыл бұрын
@@FinlayPacks do you think it's like this... You learn letters and numbers as a kid for example ABC123. You instantly know what these are when you see them written down. People with perfect pitch thus instantly know what it is juts by hearing it in isolation (not its relationship to another note you just heard which is relative pitch)
@jasonruffjr3107
@jasonruffjr3107 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct I do recall about 9 notes from memory, the other 3 (f sharp, b, b flat) instantly but memorizing is the first step to pure reaction. I know the studies that you are talking about and they don't scare me. Chances are is that they took a few people (without pp) and played notes on the piano told them what those notes were and over months and months of practice they probably got better at recalling the notes from memory but never succeeded however what I will be doing is that but 24/7 with an app that I am currently creating.

@@jasonruffjr3107 Hey there jason, just wanted to know (as i'm a huge p.p. fanatic/searcher) is there anything you've come across that you think has helped you more than others? Would love to know anything you can mention- the more the better! for me personally, i've been working on 'true pitch' stuff (associating the timbre of an acoustic instrument with the 'vowel-ness' of each pitch), as well as unlocking chords and diads. cheers! jeff

46:43 This is the method that Prince would use in order to get his to sound like it's speeded up. Ex: DANCE 4 ME, PARTYMAN, IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND, HOUSEQUAKE, FUNK, etc. Whenever Prince would record songs like that using anaolg, he would record the instruments at regular speed. Then he would slow the track down and record the vocals. When he would take the track back to it's normal speed, his would voice would sound like it was speeded up a bit. He would apply the same method when he recorded songs like FUNKNROLL when using digital devices.

It didn´t look like Jacob has the same feel like Greg for music as he actually appears to be in his music and Greg fell for this wrong guy. Sorry Greg but there are a lot of real musicians to blend with easily out there. Jacob is just a confused and fake musician with his computed music. And last but no least i have been a pianist for years up till now and it is not wrong to play multiple of instruments but it can bring you down if you will not try to master as at least as one instrument. Jacob is just the wrong example and blending all and everything into each other which is just not music but is just some hobby and knowing and pretending he doesn´t know that. But Greg you surprised me even more with true skills and God bless you.

First, something must be wrong with your ears or you didn´t listen properly to this conversation. Second...who are you to judge these top world class musicians? Jealous? Your name doesn´t seem to be known in the music industry at all....so Jacob somehow must have got a lot more knowledge of music than you have and seems to be very successful with it. So please improve your knowledge of music before judging other musicians...by the way I recommend Master Classes at several universities worldwide which are given by Jacob. Little examples you will find on KZbin!

@@dariarichter2684 thanks for your comment I did just commented I did not realy judge. I am not a known musician is true cause i am new to this industry but everytime i play people like it. And Jacob Colier knows what I am talking about cause it is not wrong to make a comment based on perception on the music industry. That's why I know where Greg is coming from cause I see myself in him. And Greg is just a naturel pianist so my ears are ok.
