26:35 Hearing Alan talking about quitting and not wanting to be a parody live is just... right now, its just crazy to me. The performance you guys put on in Sweden this summer was just insane. Then again I got into the band with Exile... so I have only seen three gigs so far (fuck I need to catch som gigs in Europe next year). The new album also delivers. You guys have many years left in you. Come back to Stockholm again soon. :)

Fernando Ribeiro from Moonspell also talked about the fact the band may retire soon. I would say, when the energy is not there you can adapt the music (which they did many times, succeeding more or less) or the setlist (which they don't, sadly). Fatigue and will creates a tension between the kind of musical direction an album can take compared to the next one that may go back to a more nervous path for example. It's hard to keep a standard for a singer since voice is a purely organic medium so anyone can understand the ups and downs of one singer's live performances, especially if booze, smoke or drug is involved. Frankly, I think Primordial needs a commited second guitarist again but more than that I was very pissed by the performance of Ciáran on the Rock Hard 2024 video, he is clearly not rehearsing enough.

I've learned in life to not romanticize any time period. A hundred years ago things would suck and a hundred years from now some other things would suck. It really is that simple. But, I do wish I was born about ten years earlier, just so less of my youth was caught up in the internet age. I was JUST about to say Hesse when the subject came up!! Hell yeah brother, even got it tattooed on me, adore that book. Sun of the Sleepless-Tausend Kalte Winter is the perfect combination of Blackmetal and triphop, highly suggest. So glad you mentioned Virgin Prunes!!! They were part of a very modern Black metalish sound, but I think Altar of Plagues was kind of brilliant, probably the best band for that whole post whatever genre.

aha ok.....well to be honest most of my modern listening trends are black or death metal, violent, more extreme sounding metal, I don't have a lot of patience or time for modern old school HM, with a few exceptions...like Freeways from Canada for example, whom I love a lot!

I also agree with your take on Black Metal or even Metsl in general. am not a fan of being progressive for the sake of being progressive. I dont want Dark Funeral to incorporate Dub step or Cannibal Corpse to get a clean female vocal counterpoint. I'm just grumpy and old I guess.
