Its kind of sad because the algorithm has become less about building a community around your content, and more about creating something "viral", so artists/content creators get forced to build content that caters to the algorithm, in the hopes that a fraction of their own followers will see the content.

True. You can even see creators having 1M subs with only 1k to 2k views. That's crazy .001% only of your subs watches your video. I remember the good old days when smosh was most subbed channel, with 6mil subs, all their videos are a million views. Even the worst ones. I starting to feel a possility of yt being starting to be saturated. I am wondering what is the magic ratio for content creator and viewer.... And ad revenue

When they took away the ability to see recent posts under hashtags, they took away the BEST way to both grow organically AND to find new creators organically. Now, everything relies on the algorithm. I find myself following LESS new accounts and am recommended less variety of accounts. Instagram's algorithm is really bad at recommending content but we're forced to rely on it.

ive been a user of instagram since it came out... i was one of the first users... back then it was amazing... but when facebook bought it, it changed dramatically... it sucks real hard now... their rules are hypocritical... im not even talking about reach... its like they dont want u to open ur mouth if u not willing to follow their agenda...

I think it has less to do with Facebook buying Instagram and more to do with the sensation that Tiktok became during covid... ever since then, meta has been trying to copy Tiktok... thus, instagram lost its essence.

exactly.. i feel that there are manual curators behind the scenes who decided which video must be pushed and which shouldnt... i also feel algorithm is just a scapegoat myth put out by the social media companies.

This video didn’t even mention the importance of reel music… i was expecting it but no a single thing about it. I’ve noticed reel music is so important to getting views. You can post the same exact video twice but one may perform better with a more trending song. I had a reel hit 6+ million videos on a 6s clip. Others 1-2+ million. Reel music is the most important

What about if you do music content, and you do not put anything related to the content or your target audience in the description? Would it be still good to not do any hashtags? Because I noticed that when I don't put any hashtags - my posts don't get ANY reach outside of my followers. I know that keywords can serve as hashtags, but do I have to use words specifically describing what is shown in the content, or can it be unrelated? I'm worried I will not reach anyone if I don't put hashtags or keywords

It’s interesting: Im Getting normal engagement and reach, even with many posts being seen by non followers, but new followers are extremely low, usually dipping into the negative. Account status is in the green and as I said, accounts engaged and reach are normal.

I'd be interested to hear an update because I found your video when I was looking into what has been happening the past week with IG. I'm a fairly new creator (artist, woodworker, mixed media) and I slowly built myself up over the past 3 months. I was happy when I started regularly going from 100-200 views to 1k-2k views. I figured it would be a slow rise like that from here on out if I was consistent and entertaining. Then all of a sudden it seemed like they were turning switches off and back on. I couldn't add targeted topics for a minute, then they'd randomly came back (but not until this weekend came back permanently) then they limited hashtags to only 5 hashtags this weekend. My views suddenly dropped back down into the 100-200 range again. Except for one video where I did a collab with someone and got 4K+. And I can't figure out what is happening! My videos aren't much different. I even tried shorter catchy videos and it's minimal difference. Don't get me started with KZbin shorts! I'll get maybe 400-500 for a couple and then 3 views. Lol. It's so inconsistent.

i have a pretty simiular experience. I was below 1k views for a long time, then got a couple viral videos (highest one 2.4m) but it was never consistend and now my account is basically as dead as when i started it. When I look at the evolution of other accounts, their views get steadily better over time, which makes me wonder if my account will ever recover...

What actually worked for me is engaging with other followers in my niche to increase my engagement rate (I'm lazy so I use quicky social for that), then posting high-quality reels. Thanks for sharing your ideas Dominik and all the best.

I've recently started getting a notification/limit on all my reels limiting my hashtags to only 3. If I add more, it won't post. If I try to copy & paste more in, it won't let me paste and I get the notification "reels are now limited to 3 hastags"

During the past i did some comments on some posts that instagram found inapropriate and removed them.... could this be the reason that now after so many months my Reels engagement is super low ? My account status is ok with many ✅in all the categories of Account Status besides the category of Removed content which is:❗with many affected content ....and two of them are still in review after 6-7 months. Back to the old Facebook: less reach and more focus on advertising-that's the goal. Having people reach a large audience without advertising is definitely not the aim for a business model such as Instagram, Facebook, or any other platform. The trend of content marketing will soon be a thing of the past. Also, people are becoming even more passive when it comes to short content scrolling, with less engagement. There's too much copied content, and people have gotten used to it. These are some of the main problems. The solution is to reverse engineer this.
