Thanks for doing this video. I just purchased this same lift after so many years of getting down on my hands and knees and crawling around on my back which I can't do anymore because of 2 shot knees and 2 shot hips. I am waiting for delivery and agree with you, don't need to spend 6 to 8 thousand but going to be a blessing to be able to put at a height to be able to again work on my hot rods that I enjoy doing. Love your garage set up and gives me alot of ideas for the future. Thanks again 👍✌️

Thank you so much for doing this video...I don't know how I would have assembled my lift without it! The only "issue" I had was I filled the hydraulic reservoir up to the "full" mark with the lift in its initial assembly position...on the third or fourth notch. To my surprise I had to remove fluid from the reservoir when I brought the lift down to the ground level.

Now that you've lived with the Tuxedo 4 poster for a bit, what do you think of the quality/stability, the safety, and the 110-volt pump/power (for a regular dude trying to squeeze 4 (...or maybe 5?!) cars into a 3-car home garage?
@revivingretro
@revivingretro Жыл бұрын
I wanted portability so I didn't attach it to the ground. If that's not a factor, I would have probably bolted it down. It's a little wobbly, but this mitigates itself once you put cars on it. The material/construction as I pointed out in my video here and there isn't the quality as a Bendpak but I couldn't justify 2 to 3x the price for as little as I use it. The ladders work to support as they should and I had no issues storing cars on top and bottom. I typically store my 69 Chevelle on top and 61' Impala on the bottom. I've put a car as heavy as my Tesla P100D on top for a couple of weeks and saw no issues. No issue with the 110v pump as well. Remember it's only used for pushing the ramps up and providing pressure for a smooth glide down. Otherwise, the runs sit on the ladders. The only thing I needed to get used to is if there is no weight on the runs it doesn't go down all the way. it certainly doesn't have enough weight to properly push down on the caster assembly when I want to move it. I have to have someone stand with me on the runs to bring it down further. I personally don't have any complaints other than the ones I stated. In fact, I'm thinking of buying another for my attached 4-car garage - I can't believe I'm starting to run out of room! ;) Also worth mentioning - unless you have a forklift - I would touch base with your Home Depot and ask if you can have your lift shipped to the store and have them deliver it to the house. My local HD has forklift/home delivery and it saved me time and money :)

Thanks for the great video, I've just put mine together with the help of a friend and your video helped a lot, as there are a few spots in the Tuxedo instruction manual that are definitely not detailed enough. By the way, do you know the size of the elbow fitting (parts #90/91/92/93) that goes between the hydraulic motor and the metal braided hydraulic cable? My shipment was missing those four parts and I cannot connect the unit... I'm waiting to talk to the Tuxedo support on Monday but in the meanwhile I was trying to find a replacement fitting somewhere :-(

Noticed you did not anchor the hoist to the floor. I bought a used Dannmar 7000. I have heated floors and reluctant to drill into the floor. How do you find the steadyness of your hoist since it is not anchord?
@revivingretro
@revivingretro Жыл бұрын
I didn't anchor it because I wanted to use the casters to move it around. It stays pretty sturdy when lifting a heavy car like my Tesla Model S - but you need to make sure the bottom plates are perfectly flat. Typical of poor Chinese craftsmanship, one of my bottom plates was a little warped and needed to be heated and hammered flat. The braces on the front and back help keep everything intact but you still need to make sure your posts are well aligned. I also don't lift it with the ramps attached. :)

Any issues so far with the 4 post lift on those floor tiles? I have Swisstrax and was wondering if it poses a problem (damage by compression or post balance) or do I have to remove some tiles in order to keep the 4 post base leveled on the concrete floor.

@@uwec86 yep - no issues with the tiles and I have had considerable weigh on the lift (i.e., Tesla P85D, '61 Impala, etc.) - I do find myself carefully checking the posts before I lift a car though because the tiles are a little slippery and I don't have the posts bolted to the ground so they may shift a little now and then (I wanted the portability the casters provide me)

Is this the standard 8k lift or the XLT version? How does the impala fit on it
@revivingretro
@revivingretro Жыл бұрын
This is the standard 8K lift. The runway length is around 180in. The '61 Impala fit's just fine on it. The wheelbase on the Impala is roughly 119.0 in so no issues on the lift. The rear of the impala obviously hangs out the back a little more than any of my other cars since it's a longer car. The lift only has 100" between the posts though so you probably wouldn't be able to fit something like a dually on it. I haven't had any issues with any of my cars on it - all have been on it for cleaning, maintenance etc. (Tesla Model S P85D, Mercedes ML350 SUV, 2023 C8 Stingray, '37 Coupe, '56 F-100, '61 Impala, '68 Camaro, '69 Chevelle). The lift is an affordable lift for hobbiest or home use. I would still opt for a more hefty lift, like a Bendpak if it were to get heavy use. :)

How do you adjust the ladders. In my garage I need another 3 inches to lock into the ladder. As of now it’s not and my car is hitting the roof of my garage, I was thinking about buying 4 pieces of 4x4 wood and make it sit on that, any suggestions????
@revivingretro
@revivingretro Жыл бұрын
You shouldn't have to modify anything for the lift to properly function. Not sure what you mean by adjusting the ladders... when the lift goes you it catches each opening on the ladder until it either reaches the top or you stop it before it reaches your ceiling. Sorry, but I'm obviously missing something here if you feel you need to use 4x4s. :(
