First time trying AWS after years of deving , so I found it quite useful, setting up my first DB right now, thank you !

Very good explanation. Much easier to understand than other sites, very few viewers and that is strange.

Just a heads up, my "public accessibility" option defaulted to "no". I didnt notice this when I created the instance. When I went to run SSMS it wouldn't connect. I had to modify the instance to say "yes".
@pierreguerinborgia24475 жыл бұрын
was that just the boolean to yes or had to change the subnet group and security as well?
@ForsakePariah5 жыл бұрын
@@pierreguerinborgia2447 I tinkered with the security group and "public accessibility" boolean. When you open your new DB in RDS there should be a "modify" button near the top right of the screen. This should allow you to change your public accessibility to yes. As far as the security group goes, open the security group associated with your DB and look at the inbound rules. I have mine set to Type: All traffic, Protocol: All, Port Range: all, Source: My IP. Hope this helps!

Hi there, it is always good to have all the VPC and Subnet group in place way before starting the deployment. Also, as it is database it is not recommended to enable publicly accessible.

Hi @jon Jensen. Thanks for this Video: It was so easy to understand. I am having issues connecting from Sql Server to the Database instance created. I don't know what could be wrong: 1. The end point is intact 2. The login and username intact 3. The public accessibility set to yes 4. Security group allows all traffic type. I don't know what could be wrong: the error from the sql seer says sth like: network or db instance error. Ensure the db name is correct and access right granted.

Hey Thanks. I got it. I modified the inbound security group settings. I set type: MSSSQL instead of all traffic, protocol: TCP and Port: 1433.....then changed it back to all after I logged in. this worked well. God bless. Hope it helps someone.

This comment thread was helpful for me. Thank you! I did appear to have to change the outbound rules as well though.

quick question, if I have made the database at home & i want to access it at my office. Then based on concept of security group, do i need to add the IP of my office ? If yes, how do i add it?
@telejonjensen6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pranav, Yes you would need to open up the service to any IP address (probably not recommended) or to specific ones. Here is my AWS playlist, I go over this a couple of times in these videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHK8dKSHg69jsLM Thanks for the question and thanks for watching! Jon
