Install Base ReShade! Preset Ports are coming! | Final Fantasy XIV

A note: MANY Preset Creators are STILL using the GShade port files, and thus you will have to check when installing a new preset whether they are using Vanilla ReShade or the GShade port files of ReShade. If they are using Vanilla, then this video will help, but they may need you to install additional shaders still! Preset releases should either come with the shaders they need you to have installed, or tell you which shaders they will need. Should you need to use the ReShade installer again to install other shaders, make sure to remove the two ** in the file paths in your ReShade settings menu, as this confuses the installer and causes it to shut down before installing. After installing, you can set the file paths to be the same as before; the simple one shaders path with ** and the one textures path with **.

Hmmmm, have you tried clicking "Reload" at the bottom of the Home page of the ReShade window? Cause as long as you don't have old Shaders and have installed this fresh, you shouldn't be getting a bunch of failed to compiles..

I'm running into an issue where the shading will randomly shift, it kind of looks like a silouette of the objects or characters is off center. I also noticed it seems to always go to the left. I followed everything to exactly as the video shows. Any ideas?

Hmmm, strange. I'd suggest turning off shaders one by one until you see it go away. That way you can figure out which shader is causing it. And then after that, maybe we just need to reinstall that specific shader. That's the only idea I currently have at least..

Followed the guide to a T and all works fine, but im trying to find out how can I leave the UI (map, hotbars etc) unaffected by the presets / shaders. The UI becomes super oversaturated and leaves it hard to read. Any of the UI masks I attempt to use dont seem to work.

I got to my FFXIV folder and no 'game' folder pops up. No option for reshade to use it. Just nothing... my game runs fine. Is it because I downloaded it through Square Enix and not steam?

Uhhh well that's weird. My version is also through Squenix (I personally would never use Steam version). There should always be a "game" folder. And inside that folder should be the necessary files. Is it possible you have it installed on another drive for some reason, and you're finding an old empty folder?

That is strange and I have never seen this issue happen. My suggestion is delete that preset from your presets folder, redownload it, and put it back into the folder.

Oh nvm just found the solution Apprently the okami gameplay needed a whole reinstall from the modifying reshade portion

I followed the video instructions but the overlay still doesn't pop-up in-game. I tried finding the settings option but it just puts me in 1st person mode. Is there a way to fix this for the xiv launcher?

SO, this is an issue many have had and it has ALWAYS been the same fix so I am going to suggest the same to you. You likely have two installs of XIV. Apparently sometimes when installing the other launcher, people don't do it exactly correct and end up downloading a whole NEW install of XIV. You likely installed ReShade on your vanilla install and not the launcher install. Check your computer to see if you have two different installs

If you downloaded the YomigamiOkami presets from the video, they are in the shaders folder in their pack. If you follow the guide exactly and install their shaders, it should appear.

So everytime I have seen this issue, the person has somehow had two installations of FFXIV on their computer, one that the launcher is pointing at and one ReShade is pointing at. Search your computer and see if somehow you have two.

great video, one thing if noticed for myself now, is there a way to (re)install the other not selected effect packages that you haven't picked on the initial install? or do i have to fully reinstall reshade then?

So, the way you do that is you run the installer again, and when you get to the shaders section, you select only the ones you want to install. ReShade is not a "program" in the normal way and does not write to your registry. The installer will just add a .ini file and the presets/shaders. So running it again will work.

It says reshade was successfully installed at the top of my screen but i cant get the HUD to pop up. I press my windows key but it only brings up my taskbar instead of the UI in game. What is the name of the keybind that you changed?

It should be your HOME key, not your Windows key to open the UI. HOME is typically above your arrow keys on a standard keyboard, and bellow PRINT SCREEN, SCROLL LOCK, and PAUSE BREAK

@@LazGaming00 Ahhhh I get what you were asking now. The Keybind is called "Overlay Key". Also just so you know if this doesn't work, hit your windows key and type "Keyboard". You should see an option for "On-Screen Keyboard". Launch that program, then click into the game, and the keyboard should be on top. Click the home key on keyboard to open the UI and be able to rebind.

Finally... my quest is at an end... at least for now. I had to re-install the game twice this week: first to really get rid of GShade and then again, because of course I messed up installing ReShade. I'm just a monkey when I comes to anything computer related, so finally getting my hands on a step-by-step guide, that goes beyond the "you gonna install and all done" is way more effective. A question, though: If I select one of the Okami presets (lets say "OkamiClarity"), the picture is black with only a few shades visible. I have to unselect "MultiLUT" to get rid of that. Its no big problem so imply unselect, but is there a way to remove it out of the preset, since this option is clearly not working? Anyway, a big thank-you to you, sir. You're a life saver :D

Yeah that means either the Okami textures folder is missing, or you didn't set up the file directory correctly in your settings folder.

Also to remove it from the preset, unselect it then click the save button next to the preset selection (looks like an old floppy disk).

I've tried following this step by step and all I get is a black screen once I turn on the shader followed the gib guide first step by step got black screen so uninstalled then followed you vid here step by step to see if that might work. Still got a black screen once I turn on the shaders. This time I didn't have the off option so had to exit the game and then uninstall it again. Any ideas as what would cause a black screen?

Typically incorrect textures, either in the folders, or an incorrect textures path. THIS specific guide is for a vanilla install, only installing Okami, and you need to make sure your textures and shaders paths are correct. I have not seen black screens for any other reasons (yet). Make sure to check if your file paths are correct, and then also make sure you have the files "lut_Sleepy" and "MultiLut_Yomi" in your Textures/Okami folder. Also for this to work correctly, this does need to be a Vanilla install of ReShade. NO Old GShade files as they can mess with things.

Yea I did that I deleted all of Gshade made sure I didn't have anything in any files when I tried your vanilla guide. The black screen happened. I really don't know what the issue is on my end not a tech pro :(. So just to confirm to you I tried it once using the gib guide putting the files into the folders copying and everything following closely step by step. I got black screen. Turned it off searched and found your guide I removed and deleted everything followed the vanilla guide. Booted up the game tried using the shaders only had Okami preset and I get black screen. Made sure I didn't do anything else clicking anything so I don't know why its not working for me.

Hey, great guide, everything worked properly until i had to chose an okami preset, when clicking on the presets through reshade in game, the folders were empty. Did I do something wrong?

The only reason they should be empty is if you didn't correctly set your file path for Shaders and Textures. Make sure if you only selected the "Shaders" or "Textures" folder that you have two * after the / (such as "Shaders/**" or "Textures/**"). If you've done this, just try clicking the "Reload" button at the bottom of the home page of the ReShade menu.

Thanks for the straight forward and informative video! One question, at the very end you say we just need to turn the shaders on and then we will see the changes take place. What did you mean by that? Is there a specific button to turn shaders on/off? Also seems that after the changes my character is in first pov. How can I undo this part?

Ahhh, sorry, I was turning mine on cause I intentionally had them off (I had already set up reshade). But there is a keybind you can set up to turn shaders on and off in the Settings tab.

I am unsure of what you're asking, but if you mean the quick launcher, it should not have a separate install. If you have the game installed twice, you shouldn't. You install ReShade into your game folder on ffxiv_dx11.exe and you're good.

Okami is the only preset I've been using for years now! Also, is there any difference with its gshade presets that I installed manually on reshade? I already use it and it's working nicely on reshade's current version, just wondering if there's any significant difference.

Not rea- HEY! RIN! IT'S YOU ISN'T IT!? Either way... Not really a big difference no. Just since it's the the GShade port Shaders, it's slightly less likely to glitch out, but the glitches are minor and far in between that if you're comfortable where you are you can sit there for now.

Typically most presets either come with the shaders/textures they need in their download zip (and you just copy paste them in) or they tell you which are needed. Okami was a new Vanilla port that just worked out for explaining how to install. Luckily, adding shaders is relatively easy with ReShade, and you CAN choose to just install them all (sometimes a few will not compile when doing this, and my suggestion is to just find them and delete them if they continue to pose a problem cause 99.99% of presets won't use them).

If it's not opening in game, it is likely because you somehow have to installations of FFXIV, and the one you installed ReShade onto is different from the one you play the game on. I have heard this usually happens for people who use the "XIV Launcher" 3rd party launcher.
