This doesn't work anymore. After installing NextCloud, when I try to open the Terminal or access the server via SSH, it just closes the terminal window.

I tried to install it on my RaspberryPi4B 8GB and it stopped with the below error. Processing triggers for libc-bin (2.31-13+rpt2+rpi1) ... ERROR: distro not supported: Raspbian GNU/Linux 11 \l Also, I noticed they have it available for Debian arch as well. NextCloudPi can now also be installed on any Debian 9 system ( NEW 11-12-2017 ) Does that mean the above will work on a normal desktop with a headless Debian install? I have an old laptop that has OMV5 on it for now. I would like to install Debian on it to make it work. I will appreciate help with these two questions. Mainly on Debian but I'm happy running it over my raspberry as well. As long as it works.

Not disk image backups or anything, just mirroring user directory, documents, work files, photoshop and illustrator documents, etc to a another device. HEllo great video, I installed on 3B+ no issues besides the DNS headache but I just tried on a Pi4 and after the script runs for a while it says Setting up Nextcloud... and then it says Set an admin password and it kicks me out of the script without finishing and giving me the address at the end. any ideas?

Great Video. But I would like to learn how to setup up for access externally safety. Here in my country and ISP blocks my 80 and 443 ports. I'm facing a lot issues to fix that. My choices is to look a service that allows me to access outside my local network or setup a VPN. But VPN is not a better solution for me due I intend to use Nextcloud with Android Smartphone and Wireguard drain my Battery life.

1) if you setup wireguard to only route the local traffic through the VPN you should have no issues with batter life. 2) you can use other ports, just you will have to type them in when accessing it. For example I could run it on port 8080 and access it by typing (assuming spacerex.co points to my home ip) spacerex.co:8080 and access it on that port

I just finished installing Nextcloud onto my Synology (DS416play) using docker by following this tutorial: jakupovic.org/wiki/syno-docker-nextcloud/. Other than the two issues listed below, I followed the tutorial exactly as written and it was easy to setup. I've only just gotten it up and running, so I can't speak to the stability issues yet that SpaceRex mentioned. Two edits based on problems I ran into: Step 6.6 - When I attempted to run the Nextcloud web container it stalled at the following log ([cont-init.d] 70-aliases: executing…). I solved the issue by going to the terminal and hitting the ENTER key. It then finishes executing and you can move to Step 7. Step 7.6 - The tutorial says to use "nextcloud-database:3306" in place of "localhost:XXXX". This induced an error for me. Instead, I used my NAS IP followed by the port number. Example: 10.X.X.X:3306 Hope this helps!

High speed internet will work against you and connecting something to the internet that isn't hardened isn't wise. Changing the servers port number isn't security in any way. Hardening the app is and using a firewall, access control list or other means to limit access. If you can limit access of the server to VPN users that would be a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the information and demo. Excellent presentation. Any recommendations on running the Pi OS in RAM for this? I've had power failures at home (and would occasionally lose my Pi-hole setup for example) so recently switched to loading into RAM. Note: I doubt there would be enough RAM resources remaining for this Pi v.2 (1GB RAM) to also run NextCloud, so may be looking out for another Pi -- I know, good luck.

I am sorry but I was not clear. When you type the iP (in your case 10.0.0.22) it should appear the pihole dashboard web interface. But if I install the nextcloud it will came the nextcloud web interface. So I’ll loose the web access to the pihole. I’ll have to control the Pihole by SSH only? I don’t understand how these two web interfaces are going to answer for the same IP.

Look up “change web port pihole” and change it to 8080. Then you could access pihole with 10.0.0.22:8080 (if you do not put a port it defaults to 80)
