Hi Mike.. Regarding my previous post with no light off...I figured it out. I hate to admit this but it was a self induced problem. I assembled most of the pieces to the heater in my garage and then transported it to the attic. Before moving to the attic I taped over the inlet opening including gas inlet to prevent dirt and insulation material from entering the unit. Well I failed to remove the tape from the gas inlet and attached the gas line !!! The lighting was not very good in the attic and I missed it. removed the tape reinstalled gas line and all is well. I like you videos, very informative and thank you for getting back to me. Gary

Thats a lot of work mainly time consuming running the water lines all the way across and down like that I personally install my tankless units right below where the water lines stub out and place the unit approximately 3-4” off the wall and run my water lines right behind the unit all the way down much cleaner look IMO, im glad rinnai finally got rid of the big ass flu pipe and its now 2” pvc and a 2” 90 for the intake

Very professionally done & well synchronised work between your good self & assistant. My only reservation is that wonderful cigar ( maybe to you & I, maybe not so for your customer???). My other query if I may was those two white plastic pipes which you used a plastic weld of sort; were they the mains water supply into boiler & return??? In the UK those kind of pipes cannot handle any sort of pressure hence only used for overflow & waste (grey water). Look forward to your next project. Kind regards.
@TheBuddylab7 жыл бұрын
ToolsConsumables I always ask if it ok to have a cigar from my customers. I would only do it when we're working in a garage. The piping is the hot and cold water lines. We use CPVC Piping with special glue. It can handle 220 degree water at 200 lbs. of pressure. Thanks for the support and the comment. Mike

Dear Mike, many thanks for your kind reply & also for enlightening me with regards as to how our American cousins do their plumbing. very educational I can tell you. P.S don't forget to have for me next time & tell how good it was. Kind regards.

This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. kzbin.infoUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

I just finished installing a Rinnai V94i tankless heater in my attic. Its supplied with a 3/4" gas and water line. I installed the Rinnai vent system through the roof a total lengle of 51" It is failing to start I keep getting error code 11. Did I miss something? Its getting water and gas, or at least my furnace and tankless heater in the other end of the house is getting gas ). water is going through to the bathroom sinks, same gas line) I have turned it off and on several times, same message. I have unplugged it and re -plugged it several time same message. I have turned the water off and on several times same message. Any ideas? BTY I like your videos, Thanks Gary

Rich Elms here in Florida they install the studs 24" apart and no plywood behind the Sheetrock. It doesn't hold well with some type of drywall anchor. That's why we use either plywood or two 2"x4" Thanks for the comment Mike
@indicasunsetstudios51295 жыл бұрын
Looks like they are using a push on coupling ( SHARK BITE perhaps), initiating the new water supply pipes, on a vertical plane. These are not supported and must be! I had a flooded basement in my house after a plumber did the same thing and after a couple months or subtle water hammer, one came off, because they were not properly secured. The manufacture of these types of couplings always specify that these joints be secured with pipe straps or clamps.

how much does a typical install cost. I live in the Massachusetts and had a quote of $5k which seemed high.
@TheBuddylab7 жыл бұрын
Robert LaGrange A typical installation like this one is around $2,500.00. If you have gas natural or propane and the old heater is in the garage or laundry room it should be around $3,000.00. If you can send me more info I can give you a very close price. Make sure the installer is certified with the tankless company he's installing.

My old hot water heater is 70 gallon, running on propane. It is over sized for a Jacuzzi. It is in the basement (actually in my workshop) with easy access and already has 3" venting to the outside. I was looking at the rinnai system. My shower has a main head and three body wash heads. what do you recommend for total volume on these? Thanks...
@TheBuddylab7 жыл бұрын
Robert LaGrange if you have three full baths and that large tub I would go with a Rinnai RL9.4 interior unit propane fired. You would need the raised horizontal termination kit #224046 this part would print the vent above ground level. You could also move the unit to the outside by using an exterior model. No matter what it would give you more room in your shop lol. A good est. would be around $3,500.00 or so. Prices are a little lower here in Florida but we were from NY and that should be about rite. Please feel free to ask anything you want. They are very good units and they will provide trouble free service for you and your family. Mike
