Fixed my car in my 1988 Delta 3.8! I was having so much problems with transmission and throwing a code 24. Can’t believe I almost installed a used transmission. Speed sensor replacement for the win!

This kind of saved me a headache as i thought i would have to change the whole mechanism and main gear to suit an electronic sensor. This gives me hope, can just screw one of these on and hopefully wires up to my existing electronic speed sensor on a Eunos Cosmo 😊

My Dakota Digital dash came with the speed sensor shown in this video, but my transmission uses what I assume is a magnetic speed sensor, which makes the one supplied non compatible. Is there an alternative solution to my non compatible parts?

As an ASE Master Tech since 78, working on motorized anything since the 1970's, I can answer your and others questions. The output shaft has a $6 40 tooth tone ring / reluctor that is driving onto the output shaft, inside the tail housing of the transmission. With the speedo-drive hole open, in neutral you will see metal rectangular teeth that is driven into dead center of the pickup opening. It provides higher resolution for newer vehicles EGR, Shifting, VSS, and P1870 code for speed comparison from input to output. This changes line pressure for internal slippage of the transmission at road speed. The Camaro and Firebird in 1992-1996 used a pickup that bolts on. Two wire in factory schematics is "Hi" and "Low". Low is ground as this is an A/C signal, at the PCM for "LS family engines". This signal goes to dash speedo, ABS (3-Channel) and Radio. Radio became louder with road speed the faster you drive, if equipped and set. I prefer to wrap in foil tape to ground- tape sold at home improvement or run ground, with wires twisted 9 times per foot. To keep RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from plug wires to high frequency fuel pump sales signal at gas stations. (They don't use wires / can cause entry-start problems on keyless vehicle-TBS) Connector can be bought online or salvage yards. Solder and shrink connectors, please. DK, ASE Master Tech Since 78, mechanic since 70. (Note; I will respond to questions) by responding to this comment. Have a lucky one!
