For future reference you can't tip over appliances with compressors inside them like refrigerators and ac units, if you do you need to leave them upright for at least a few hours to 24 hours before turning them on. Oils from the compressor can leak into the refrigerant lines and cause damage to your unit

A few points, the window mount for the exhaust hoses is supposed to be installed with the "short edge" that is before the first hose cut out at the bottom, so it sits at the bottom of the window frame edge, and the longer section after the second hose cut out at the top, so it's directed up and connected to, the next piece that will go up to rest at top part of the window fame edge. Doing so allows for the holes to line up correctly for the rivet(s) placement on both sides of the mounting frame track. While the hoses do have clips to keep them in place to the mounting frame, the hoses should still be further secured to the mounting frame with screws through the predrilled holes on both the couplings and the mounting frame. Other than that, you did a great job of showing the installation.

Great detailed vid! It gave me confidence to pull the trigger on getting a similar one. Went to Costco online and a rare sale brought us the latest (Hisense) DC inverter a/c-only version, and I installed into a sliding patio door. Piece of cake -- just ripped and painted some 1/2" plywood to the opening of 6", screwed the supplied single 2-port adapter plate onto it, mated and cut out the 2 ports in the plywood, added some foam gaskets and voila! a nice tight fit. 6" exhaust hose doesn't get that hot (pushing 110 F) but we still added a quilted cover sleeve that my wife whipped up. Also a large diy bug screen for the intake. So far, I could only get this [newer] unit to draw a max 800 watts or under 7 amps. The temp drops relatively fast and is way quieter in our 300 sq ft bedroom than the ancient-model single-duct roll-around a/c. It's also programmable through a ConnectLife app. However, it still ain't no mini-split a/c when it comes to quiet and efficiency. Now let's see how long it lasts 😁

You should have the hot hose on the top. Hot air rises. With the hot hose on the bottom, the intake hose that you have on the top will suck in hot air decreasing the efficiency of the air conditioner. It would work much better if you switched the hoses around.

Agree that the hot air vent should be insulated. I live in Texas and I noticed the hot air vent got so hot it was radiating back into the room. Despite running constantly, it could not bring the temp below 85 in a fairly well insulated 200 SQ ft room. I was disappointed. Today I insulated the exhaust vent with TO and it seems to be improving performance.

Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I kzbin.infoUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

For the heating do u remove any of the dual hose for efficient heating ? The manual does say if the outside temp is colder we might have to remove one of the hose that way it can keep the house warm. Any input?
@richardiredale3128
@richardiredale3128 2 жыл бұрын
You leave it as-is. In heat mode the unit will draw in outside air and eject that air far colder. Inside the house, room air will enter at the back and come out warm in front. In other words, exactly the opposite of A/C. The heat pump won't work well if the outside air get pretty cold. So why use a heat pump? Because it uses far less electricity than just running a resistance heater. But again, if the outside is very cold then a heat pump won't work well.

Hello! I'm thinking about buying this. Can you tell me how it works these days after most of a year?

I use mine daily now, since I have a very hot (fully enclosed studio). It is still hear the AC (it's not super quiet), but otherwise my studio is too hot. You can hear the unit running in the background on my AmazonLive Stream, like this one here: www.amazon.com/live/broadcast/f8fc01c1-5b63-45d2-9859-91e77c85de5f

@@UTECHPIA Hey thank you for the fast response!! I need a way to cool off a 1 room apartment that hits temps 10+ degrees warmer than it is outside in sun, and I think I'm gonna go with this one thanks to your help! Hopefully my headset can tune out the noise since I work remote call center. I'm buying it from Costco to get this dual hose model, so your Amazon link doesn't support you... Is there something else I can do as far as link clicking etc that helps you?

@@KikiAelita , most noise cancelling headset will do fine with AC noise, it is easy to cancel out. I bought mine from Costco too, i recommend it since they have the dual hose model. Thanks so much for thinking about helping me out. If you simply "follow me" on AmazonLive that would help me alot. Also, feel free to click on any of my links on Amazon prior to buying anything on Amazon, that helps me out too! (but no pressure). Thanks so much! My AmazonLive Link is here: amazon.com/shop/utechpia (please click follow to support), thanks! :)

Hey if anyone's reading this and was in a similar situation, while shipping took almost twice as long as Costco said, and one of the window mount pieces arrived with a crack, the unit itself works great. One advisement I'd have is making sure that either the room has good airflow around it or that you add your own. The unit has a tendency to cool the area around it, resulting in it shutting off because it thinks it's at the target temp long before areas just around a corner (but still in the same larger room) cool off. This can be 'fixed' by leaving the unit set for much colder than you actually want the room to be or by adding fans to keep the cold air being pulled away/hot air moved back towards it. Cord is short (6-7ft)! But good unit, would recommend.

@@KikiAelita Thanks for the info. I have one question. I know the window kit is good for up to 50 inches. But, I think my window is a bit over 50 inches (about 56 inches when I last checked). If you extend the kit all the way, will it be exactly 50 inches? I ordered one for my condo because the third floor gets really hot and there is a heat wave in the Pacific Northwest right now. I know I will get mine after the heat wave. But, I was wondering whether I should buy this alternative on Amazon for this AC (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KZSYKGZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3O0W24XBCTNR6&psc=1).

Is it too noisy at night , I mean the compressor sound ?
@UTECHPIA
@UTECHPIA 3 жыл бұрын
You'll certainly hear it at night. it's not a super quiet machine, it's "normal" AC noise level. Please follow me on Amazon @ www.amazon.com/shop/UTECHPIA (it is totally FREE, and helps me out a TON, I would absolutely appreciate your support). BTW: If you haven't already done so, please consider subscribing to UTECHPIA on youtube as well. Have a great day, my friend! :)

How to drain it?
@UTECHPIA
@UTECHPIA Жыл бұрын
if you use AC only, you don't need to drain it (at least in my experience). if you use heater, you'll have to attach the drain hose.

The geniuses at Hi-Sense used to have a one-hose model and then "upgraded" to a two-hose version. Oops! The second hose bracket in the main window panel prevents the slider panel attachments from sliding all the way in. So, while they claim that this will fit in any window 25-60" ... it is now a lie! It works for 25" exactly (using only the main panel) and 31" up (using slider panel inserts). But, between 25 and 31" you're SOL because the new second hose bracket won't allow even the shortest panel to retract all the way. Way to think things through! NOT!

It's "average" in terms of the noise department. It's not any louder than the other portable units I've used. But it is NOT quiet either.

This is a GREAT UNIT. Just PULL out ALL the Electronics. ALL OF THEM. And Maybe it might WORK. LOL. Had mine working for less then 2 hours and then it did not give ANY error codes. it just kept turning Off. What a JIP. Oh well. There is a Reason there are SO many Referbs of this. None of them work very long.

It's "decent" quality. It works, and I have a feeling it'll last at least 4-5 years. If it can last that long, it's worth it to me. For the price of the unit, and it has dual hoses, I am willing to accept the "decent" quality. :)
