Really good video to show the order of install to tape them in securely and snug. For those with rusted rocker panels, proceed with caution. Surface rust - sand it down to bare metal then treat with a primer (no need to paint since you're covering up). Rotted through rust - depends on the severity. If you don't have enough solid metal for the adhesive tape to take hold, these won't help you. In my particular case, I had some bad spots toward the bed of the truck and was able to cut them out before installing these. Make sure you either treat your rocker panels (inside and outside) with cavity wax or a rust converter as best you can. Once you have rust, you're really just buying yourself some time with these.

Thanks for making the video! It has help me understand how the rocker covers work. I wish I would have put these on years ago before I started to see rust bubbles. I’m going to order a set and get them on my 2016 1500. Thanks again for the insight.

@stevehursh6943 no problem! Happy the video helped and thank you for taking the time to comment! So far, they have held up very well. Only place the tape separated was on the corner right behind the doors. Separated on both sides. So when you go to install just make sure to clean really well and press hard. Other than that the tape is holding strong and have prevented tons of rock chips!

Wish I had seen this before. I painted mine with bed liner and its held up really well. I have a body shop so wasnt difficult for me. Just masking off the areas was the most time consuming.

The plastic was definitely the fast solution, way overpriced, though. As long as it keeps holding up, that's all that matters!

Well Worth it, my Megacab took serious rocks, I bet if this was installed, the rockers would not be rusting now. Truck is Mint everywhere but the Rocker panels have some rust. I hate it lol 😆

Link is in the description more near the bottom. And I believe you can choose the correct year of the truck for an exact fit, But I think 2014-2018 are all the same. Don't quote me on that though lol.

Not 100% sure, but they run very tight to the body and aren't super thick. So, I can't imagine they would get in the way of automatic steps. Just matters how the steps are bolted to the body of the truck.

I should've gotten ahead of it on mine before the rust really took over, because it only took a few months between surface rust to directly through rust. The perks of living in salt country..

Mine are rusted too, I'm thinking of just putting these on to avoid paying $5k to have new rocker panels installed 😞

@@stevehursh6943 I bought them but actually ended up replacing the rocker panels. I found a local shop who did it for $2,000. It's a lot but the quote was way better than any other shop and now I have new rocker panels with fresh paint. I don't think the rust would have interfered with putting them on. I still have them new in box, where do you live?

Going to need these for my 17 Sierra. Can almost push a finger through rockers and have been oiling them past 2 years. Also knowing they have the issue and still couldn’t stop it. I don’t think these will prevent it either as moisture is getting in elsewhere unfortunately but great cover up👍

@Bryan Willis sorry to hear that:/ all the videos I have seen, people use these as cover ups and they make a big difference. Souns like you have enough panel to still tape to, so thats a positive!

Looks good mate. A couple of things. Did the red tape ever rip on you? I could see that causing grief if you've already secured part of it down. Also, I guess when you wash your truck you want to avoid spraying the door jams for fear of getting the adhesive tape wet.

Thank you very much! I appreciate it :) Lukily i didnt have any of the red tape rip while I installed. After all this time, the only part that had lifted is the rounded corner part behind the rear door. I think I mentioned that I was worried it would lift in the video and sure enough, that lifted. So water snd dirt can get in there, but at least the water can flow our the bottow where i mentioned in the video. But other than that everywhere else has been as solid as the day I installed it. Very happy with it, its taken some gravel hits and holding up well. I spray it with the pressure washer, driven through snow/rain and the tape is holding strong so far.

I agree with you on the crap paint, its terrible. But how will it make it rust quicker? Now it's protecting it from rocks blowing chunks out of the rocker panels. And it has the drains on it, that I showed in the video, if any water gets behind the guards.

Well, there’s little plastic plugs underneath. Pop them out and look. If you see rust, it’ll eventually start bubbling on the outside. I used 3m cavity wax and Hoping that will stop further progress. I do want to buy these covers. Will they work with normal side steps.
