Stick the male adapter onto the copper tubing. Then just stick the spout onto the pipe sticking out. Then just measure the distance to the wall from the base of the spout. Then subtract about a 3/8" off of that and cut that off of the copper. Test the distance by slipping the spout onto the pipe, with the adapter on it, like you were going to thread it on. I have done a million of these. It's very simple!

Didn't UNDERSTAND... 😅 3 3/4 your deep and you mark the end of your 3 3/4 at same time you shows other mark (how you ended that second mark?) Again you leave 3 3/4 coper pipe and attach the treated male coupling final your measurements is 4" 1/8?

Is there a benefit to having a threaded spout versus a slip fit? Also, I noticed like mine there is a small cut out in the bottom of the spout. For no reason because there is no set screw. Should that be sealed to prevent any water from splashing up in there?
