For the people getting “we couldn’t create a new partition or locate an existing one”, might try to disconnect all hdd on the mac (except the one that you are using for the windows installation). I have a MacBook Pro with and HDD and SSD and worked for me!

So I've been trying to install Windows 7 on a 2012 MacBook Pro that got the Optical Drive removed. So it was a pain. I tried many, many tutorials on video and on forums. I'm only halfway with this one but I'm making good progress. I can't thank you enough for not only showing what to do, but explaining what and why are we doing it. Try turning your mac off then on again when it does that hold the option or alt key then if that doesent work there are some issues with with the flash

When changing the permissions for the bootcamp folder, I disabled my SIP and even double checked that it was disabled in my system report under software, it still said that "This operation cannot be completed because you do not have the neccessary permission" is there anything else I can try, I am absolutely positive that the SIP is disabled.

You can copy the bootcamp application from finder to desktop and since it is a copy, it will let you modify the files, even with SIP on.

This method assumes you have a backup partition that has a fairly recent version of OSX. In order to do this on older systems, you need to press CMD+OPTION+R to get into the latest version of Mac Internet Recovery (you may have to be connected via ethernet for this to work). I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro and CMD R wasn't working as it was utilizing the original OS internet recovery (I don't have a recovery partition).

It's a good tutorial but could have been improved and made more understandable. 1) You don't tell the viewers/users the commands used in the description. 2) You don't zoom in enough so people could at least read what you were doing, 3) You click too fast too quick, you should never assume that everyone knows what you are doing. 4) and last, you speak too fast, and the sound is muffled. When you make a tutorial you have to assume that people haven't got a clue so you need to take it one step at a time and give them time to follow. But as I said overall it's a great tutorial. I noticed in your video when you right clicked for "get Info" that the "locked" option was available to be checked or unchecked under the general drop down section. where on mine it is still faded out and unable to be changed.. Hey at the step of 7:32 it says "Windows cannot be installed on this disk as it has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks" Please help😔😭😢

You can try to delete that partition, and then re-create it by clicking New. And then Format it into NTFS system. If not, then you need to use gdisk to do something with that partition.

@@deepapasumarti6295 I once faced two challenges: 1) it says it cannot install on FAT32, so I formatted it into NTFS. 2) it still says cannot install on GPT schema, then I used a separate drive and deleted all partitions and re-partitioned using MBR schema (using disk utility). After that it went through. But I still failed to boot into the windows system as I don't have a metal supported graphics card under High Sierra. I am waiting for my purchase of an Mac Edition card.

@@deepapasumarti6295 I just managed to install Windows 10 using DVD on my 2009 Mac Pro 5,1 High Sierra. I had same warning as you did, as I formatted the target HD using MBR schema. If your drive is a separate drive with no contents you want to keep, then you can simply delete all partitions, and then click new on the unallocated drive. The installer will change the schema to GPT, and format partitions in NTFS. You will also be allowed to make a smaller partition for hosting Windows 10. It should go through the process. Two suggestions: 1) instead of press and hold C key as some guide said, I press and hold alt/option key for the DVD installer continue the installation. 2) You need to be very patient when for the first time you see the Windows logo, as it may take a few minutes before some language options appear. I previously thought it had failed again, but it finally progressed. Good luck

@@deepapasumarti6295 Re-reading your question, I think the key to answer your question is to use either a separate blank disk or a drive already formatted under the Mac OS native schema that is Guid Partition Map (GPT) (and leave the windows partition unformatted/unallocated) to perform windows 10 installation. By using DVD as you are doing (EFI system), the installer will format windows partition to NTFS (since it is already in GPT schema, so it will work). In fact if you don't mind losing contents on your drive, you can keep deleting all partitions during the installation, and let the installer change the boot configuration (only the whole drive is unallocated) and do the format.

Hi, I have a problem. Whenever bootcamp assistant is in the "copying windows 10 files to usb flash drive" stage, it gives me an error. The message says, "Your bootable USB drive could not be created", and under that it says, "There is not enough space available on the disk". This is not true since I'm installing it on a 32gb flash drive. I also tried using a 500gb external hard drive, with the same message. This is also not a system related problem because I have 187gb of free space. Is anyone else encountering this problem, and if they so, is there a fix to it?

Your unclear instructions cause a waste of time. you say to enter the command "cs util disable" but it is "csrutil disable" and then you also don't mention to hit enter, and you do not hit enter before you restart. I did it all again after learning this, and I have found that I still cannot make the files read&write, I still get the message saying that I do not have permission to do that.

It works so great that I can understand why Apple doesn't support Windows 10 officially on it. Unfortunately, there is no way to get the sound driver to work. Everything works finde except the sound.
