I have a faulty cd player in My Acer aspire 5720 and couldn't install Windows XP on it. I was trying for 5 days & no matter what I tried, it will not pass the copying of files. Then error message. I tried several software tools to boot from USB but every single of them failed. I even tried PXE boot of AOMEI software. It starts installing, copies installation files then blue error screen. Then lastly I found this incredible tool called easy2boot. Yes it worked at last and now I have a fresh XP installation on my Acer aspire. Thank you easy2boot. As I understood it, when installing XP, you need drivers which others do not have but this easy2boot does have. So it worked at last. Gratias!

I was trying for a while to install Windows XP Professional on an older system, but I kept on getting either a blue screen, or else the installation kept on restarting back to the menu again. It wouldn't even install when I put the installation files on to the hard drive. I also had two old Windows XP CDs which couldn't install, as they seemed to have lots of files missing or corrupted as well. This video made it very straightforward. I spent 3 days trying to install XP in a Positivo 3G Mobo Netbook (ECS G10IL clone) using Rufus, several versions, without success. Apparently the HDD wasn't recognized and I always ended up on EULA error. So I found this video and succesfully installed XP in the first try! Thanks, man! And thanks, Easy2Boot developer!

I got an old mini laptop asus eee pc 901 for free with win 7 installed and had to be reinstalled with xp cuz this laptop have very little hdd space and is designed for xp only. So i decided to try to reinstall it with xp with the help of searching how to do it on the internet and finally got it to work with this video haha. Sry for the bad english its not my native lang.

It is true friend I have tried with many applications to be able to start Windows Xp from Usb and I had many problems when starting it gave me an error. They did not start, blue screens or constant beep of the Bios I was about to give up and recign myself to install from CD in Ide mode when I have Windows 10 in AHCI and this program saved my day and life without having to touch the configuration of the Bios

This is probably the best bootable USB drive creator. I use this for mainly Linux distro testing because some Linux ISO images won't boot when a USB drive is created with certain programs, this one has always worked for me and makes things quite handy when used with a large thumb drive jumping from ISO to ISO. I like that much better than testing OS's in a Virtual Box because then I can run the OS on my hardware to see how it actually runs and if there are any strange compatibility problems that wouldn't show up under a virtual machine.

You are likely using an incompatible ISO, there are lists of tested ISOs on easy2boot.

My portable DVD-RW finally died, served me well since 2004!!! Seriously almost daily use for a decade and a half, well played HP. E2B v1.B2 had a bug - always gives 'ntkrnlmp.exe - error 14' error - update to E2B v1.B3 (it only takes a few seconds).

You can get iso by watching youtube video named "windows xp iso download" and to get easy2boot go and scroll down click on new or old beta releases choose latest one and there u go

This tool worked for me although I did have to skip the step 2 due to my pc being an oem system and it brought up a service tag diagnostic tool. For anyone out there who has an oem system whether it is dell (Which is what I have), HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer etc. Make sure that in step 1 when the setup asks you for the partition to install on, format your c: Drive, then repeat the step one and chose to install xp on the C: drive you have just formatted and then once your pc has copied all xp install files, you can safely boot into xp on your internal drive (C: Drive) and it will work. This only applies for anyone who has an oem pc. I had Windows 10 Pro on my Dell and from the factory it was designed for XP. Cant believe it worked. Never thought I was ever able to do it. To all those who failed on the first step- Try using a 32 bit version To all those who failed on the second step- Just boot directly to the HDD after the first step (with the usb flash drive still connected) Instead of booting into the USB!! All the best guys

Everything was going great until I tried to make the second step... I choose to load from the USB and then instead of taking me to the Easy2boot menu it starts Windows XP and then ask me for the 'asms' file... then I tried what you said here (boot directly to the HDD) and the same happens. So I tried again today with a different ISO file (Actually it was one from the list Easy2boot recommend in their website), followed the steps and the same happened, it's making me nuts! The version I downloaded to make the USB is 2.08, yes it changes a bit from the one used in this video but it´s almost the same... I was confident it was gonna work this time around 'cause I was using a Win XP Pro that they recommended... I don't know, maybe I have to try a different thing.

I was working on a Dell XPS/Dimension XPS Gen 4 and didnt have had a driver CD - SATA to IDE mode was not a option in the BIOS. Finally after this video I was able to install WinXP onto it. First tryed it with NTlite, but this didnt worked.

Great video, very helpful. I personally use an iodd device. Its bascially a USB hard drive with CD/DVD drive emulation mode. It allows you to boot from image files. Works great with any motherboards that support USB booting, although it often requires some reboots to get it to recognize the drive. In my experience, works flawlessly with Windows 2000 onwards. Sadly doesn't work with DOS and Win9x images, probably because these images boot from DOS floppy that is packaged inside. And DOS doesnt support that kind of hardware for obvious reasons. Not sure how to fix that, but you should be using floppies and CDs for these OS anyways...

You can use Rufus tho, I would suggest that, it's a lot more easier to use. I always use Rufus when I install OSes via USB.

Can Easy2Boot work in both Legacy and EFI mode (with Clover/DUET) ? Rufus is better for a single OS installation (simple user) and low capacity pendrives. Easy2Boot is better when you need more than one OS (because you have multiple computers, dual/triple booting setups, etc.).

I just used this method and I'm getting a problem. I've installed 7 and 10 from USB before so I mean... I'm not terrible at it but maybe I missed something? This is after selecting Option 2, after it went through the multi-colored 'installing' screen. "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and diskhardware. Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information." Edit: It did /not/ make it to the Windows XP blue screen after the multi-colored text install screen.

I used a x64 version of xp and tired to do the same steps to install. As I got to the second step, it loaded the files onto the ram and tried to boot intro the hard drive but said it was missing bootmgr. I’m not sure what I did wrong or was it a problem with the iso itself?

XP 64-bit has very few drivers and it is unusable!!! No browser, apps, no SP3, etc. No one uses XP 64-bit! Use XP 32-bit SP3.

Your machine likely doesn't do USB 2 speeds, but even with USB 1, 2.5 hours is a long time. So you might be better off installing from regular optical drive.

A bit late to the party but I have one massive problem: 3:23, where it shows in green that it has found all the drivers - it doesn't for me and without the SCSI/RAID/SATA Drivers it is useless. I tried adding them manually but it can't read them, either. My motherboard isn't that new either, in fact, it's getting old - it's an Acer XC600 with the original motherboard.

@@steve6375 lenovo ideapad (laptop) i think it was because i had UEFI bios and my ssd was gpt format, i converted my entire pc into the "legacy mode" or bios and it probably would have worked but by then i had realized the drivers would not adapt with my pc since it is too modern.

Another option are HDD cases with integrated USB Optical Drive emulation. They provide the best compatibility with almost every OS/PC and some can even emulate USB flash drives and floppies just from images. Especially with UEFI boot, where Easy2Boot struggles, this can come in handy.

PhilsComputerLab Yeah, they are quite expensive and should only be bought if you really need them. In most cases, simply burning a CD or using Rufus is the cheapest option. Easy2Boot is the simplest solution but has some flaws like the UEFI booting.

I got blank screen with blinking dash after copying the file to ram in step 2.. Any idea why?

Where did you get the ISO files you put into the windows folder, I am not finding an ISO file on my computer anywhere

hi Phil...i get a "windows cannot start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem" after the first restart. i run from USB also the next time. what should i do?

It does not work. I boot, follow step by step the video instructions, it comes to a screen "You must press F6 when prompted" and it stops.
