What if my mount like on the left side doesn’t have a stud but the right hits the stud
@tripas421Ай бұрын
Not sure if it’s been mentioned here before, but stud finders are used twice per stud. It signals at the edge, not at the center. That’s why you had to go a little to the left. You always run it to one direction and mark where it beeps, then you run if from the other side towards the mark you made and it will beep again at the other edge, giving you both edges of the stud. And then then you’ll get your center of the stud (between both marks)
@alexk67454 ай бұрын
7:43 to not break the bolt you need to set max torque to 2-3 and it won't break anything. But first 2-3 rotation you'd better do manually anyway. 14:08 I use stanley stud finder. The good thing is that it has lines which show light when you aproach stud. I come from the left, then I come from the right. I get to points usually they located in 1.5cm. In that case I know exactly that the stud is in the middle. I also do a 2 more tests above and below just in case to make sure that I have not found a wire. This way I put my 40'' TV on a single stud with no issues. But now I have a 75 inch TV which is a bit more problematic

SOLID that you mention to hand tighten everything so you don't strip things. The small drill left / right is very clever to 'really' find the center of the stud. You might suggest what the common heights of dressers are so that if you have family photos or a 't*ts' old school tube channel audio system that's going to sit on top of it, the dimensions are 36 " to the top of your dresser in your bedroom so 46 " to the bottom edge of your TV from the floor works usually Holmes. If the studs are off a little to far, you could take a nice piece of 1x material about 24 "s long and screw that firmly into the studs. the TV mount could be positioned in the center of the wall and screwed to that.

Huge fan, ❤ love your videos. I really could use your help as the pro you are. I have been advised against wall mounting our 50” tv in our condo because of “metal studs”. I have been told you can never be sure you have actually penetrated the metal studs or just bent them. This is an old tv, 50” plasma so it’s very heavy and rather thick, compared to newer tv’s. It is probably over 100 lbs. So I am reluctant to try this. We did have it wall mounted in our old house since getting it new in 2007. But in this condo, this is a very small bedroom so having the tv on the wall is the only option. Have you ever run into this problem ? Any body else have any advice ?

When picking my TV's height off the floor I realized that the recommended "eye level" suggestions from the internet made the view from the kitchen of the bottom of the screen blocked by the "eye level" heads of people sitting on the couch. I stuck an above average height person on the couch, went into the kitchen and sighted just above thier head to the wall where the TV was going to mount, and that's how I picked the bottom of my screen. Moral of the story is to consider all possible viewing locations before installing blocking and/or drilling holes.

Before drilling the holes for the wall mount, how to determine if the studs are wood or aluminum? If the studs are aluminum, should you wall mount the TV?
@BTheInstaller2 жыл бұрын
If wood comes out, it's wood. If the drill doesn't go anywhere or makes a banging noise, it could be metal. Normally about 20% of the time. You can use toggle bolts through metal studs and they work quite well. You need to understand how to use them properly and the weight of tv

Sir B... You have the best reviews in all, thank you. I just pick up my XR77AJ80 from BF, after your reviews and now planning to mount it on wall. My TV cabinet is 25 inch height, I want a 8-10 inch distance from the cabinet to the bottom of the TV. That means the center of the TV to the ground is 54~ inch. With my sofa is 10~12 ft away from screen, should I be concerned with the optimum viewing angle? As I was told the best height to be 42 inch to center of screen when sitting for best eye leveling. Any comments, thanks!

Before mounting, I thought ahead and did NOT remove the factory stand until it was mounted to the wall. Absolutely no need to do this with this wall mount until I had the TV where I wanted it. This mount swings out plenty to remove the factory stand afterwards. I mounted my 65" much the same and used the same brand. I used tape on the wall once I found the center and the studs so as not to mark up the wall. I also used this same method of centering the 2x4. I have 2 stud finders. One has lights that tell me when the 2x4 is there (not super accurate but works) and a magnet stud finder. I use a small nail on a vice grip to center the line for the stud once I find it. The only thing I don't like is the typical 42" TV center (from the floor) that seems to be standard. This just isn't high enough for me. I put mine at 48" from the floor and it still wasn't high enough. The rear TV bracket only allows for about 4" of adjustment up and down. When I first mounted it to the recommended center from the floor (but 48" not 42"), it was almost identical height as when it was on the TV stand. I then removed it and raised the rear mount 4" higher. STILL not high enough. For me, a 60" center is where my 65" belongs. I can now lower it 4" for the perfect height of 56" from the floor. With the 5-degree tip feature, this is perfection.

But then it's on the floor. Or you gotta buy a piece of furniture. Easier to mount it to the wall for the cost of a 50 dollar mount.

and then it takes up a lot more space and is far less stable.

Hey B great intel! Do you think is ok to use 4 of these new cavity fixings for heavy itemd (GeeFix) as my drywall is like 10in depth) and studs were likely put at back so also bolts won't be long enough thanks x advice

I’m just confused about the wall, how can I know what kind of wall do I have? I can see that wall had “wood separation” between the panels but i think my wall has the metallic parts, not sure, how can I know?

Call me stupid, but I need help installing a Sony 50" X80 J to a Hung Onn wall mount. The holes in the tv itself are very deep and the recommended screws are 6mm screws between 11 and 12mm long. That screw fits no where near the right amount of depth to attach the mount and get to the tv. The spacer we tried did not work. When I tried to drop the 6mm screw in the deep cavity just to see how it fit, it was too large for the screw hole. Is Sony the only tv that recesses that hole so deeply that you can't get to it? Every video of yours I have watched is a quick attachment of the mount to the tv. Why me???? I can try a different mount hoping it comes with better hardware choices but somehow I think it's got to me. They can't be making universal type mounts that just do work for all models. The closest video I can find of yours still doesn't really focus on using spacers and washers. May be a good subject for a future video. I'm totally lost and would return the tv if I could, but it was a reward from work that I had very little choice on selections to choose from. So far, it's a gift of frustration. :( Thanks for any advice you may have.

Some Sony tvs have bolts that go into the deep holes and then the screws go into those. Also your tv mount may add depth to their 11-12mm long recommendations.

Seems I cannot find answer about the screw lengths anywhere…I’m hanging a Samsung 75” with fixed wall mount and they supplied the #8 screws but in two different lengths to hold onto the vertical bar into rear tv. The short ones just don’t seem right to hold up the weight and the longer ones seem too long to screw into rear of tv. Anyone have experience with Samsung mountings…thanks very much for any response 👍

@@BTheInstaller hey dude try out what I told you man it's pretty cool. With external sources if you go down to the video signal. Where the color space settings are at. Right above that setting is the hdmi signal output change it from limited to full. The image will be slightly richer and have a bit more perceived contrast imo. I'm sure you will enjoy that lol. On the a90j of course I'm talking about.

You fill the holes with drywall spackling and touch in the paint for an invisible repair
