EXPANDABLE CIRCUIT FUSE
GlowShift Expandable Circuits allow you to easily power 12 volt gauges directly from the fuse panel of your car or truck. Using this circuit eliminates the need to cut or splice into your vehicle’s factory wiring and make any permanent modifications. Expandable Fuse Circuits are offered in ATO (ATC), Mini, Low Profile Mini, Micro2 and Micro3 fuse sizes. Each circuit ships with a 4 amp fuse that has 2 fuse spots featuring Plug and Play Connectivity for quick and seamless connections.

They show how to locate and plug in the fuse expanders but not how to route the wires from the enclosed fuse box. Do you notch the cover so wires can exit and if that's the case how moisture proof is your fuse box now?

I don't suppose by some crazy chance you guy's would know where these are on a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT with the 3.0L I checked with my mutimeter and not one of the fuses gave me a 12v source to include the cigarette lighter fuse which I know was hot as those both work with the ignition off. Not sure if you'll know on this but never hurts to ask thanks in advance for any info.

So I need 1 expandable circuit for all the red wires, 1 expandable circuit for all the yellow wires, and 1 expandable circuit for all the orange wires? Or can i use 1 expandable circuit for both of my guage wires?
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 5 жыл бұрын
Red and yellow will need their own expandable circuits. Orange will only need an expandable circuit if you are connecting to a headlight fuse and not splicing into a headlight wire at the switch.

So to use multiple gauges on one circuit is the method to just splice all the gauges within the 3 wires on the expendable circuits? I want to run 4 dimmer gauges but i want to make sure I’d need to splice them together in order to get proper working condition
@GlowShift
@GlowShift Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, or, you can use one of our multi-gauge wiring kits. You will wire each gauge to a connect on the harness, and then the one single wire will run into the expandable circuit. Here is the 4 gauge harness if you are trying to install 4 gauges: www.glowshiftdirect.com/7-color-series-4-gauge-wiring-kit-with-sensor-power-wires/

If I’m running 2 seperate gauge pods how would I run the expandable circuits if there is only 1 constant power fuse and 1 ignition fuse and 1 headlight fuse do they need to be spliced together? To make 1 plug? I’m confused someone please help

Can I also connect 3 black wires from 3 different gauges together and take them to a ground source or do they individually have to be connected to a ground source
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 9 жыл бұрын
+Isaac Gonzalez As long as it is a good grounding location, all 3 ground wires can be ran together!

I'm surprised no one has asked the obvious question... how many gauges can you hook up to these expandable circuits? For example, If I have 5 gauges, am I going to need 15 of these?... Or can I just connect all of the yellow, red, and orange sets to each of the three expandable circuits?
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 9 жыл бұрын
Sam Han We recommend 3 gauges per expandable circuit. If you're looking to power three gauges from the fuse panel, you will need 3 expandable circuits, one for the yellow wire (constant 12v), one for the red wire (switched 12v) and one for the orange wire (12v headlamp source) for the dimmer function. If you don't want to have your gauges dim when the headlights turn on then you will not need to use an expandable circuit for the orange wire since it won't be used. If you have any other questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask!

What if Im installing Speedometer, Tachometer, Fuel Level, Water Temp, A/F, Boost, and Oil Pressure gauges. Is there an Extender or another way to connect all 7 to the fuse box?
@GlowShift

You would be able to connect the gauges into the fuse box using an expandable circuit, but we do not recommend powering more than 4 gauges using one expandable circuit.

Is it possible to only use the red switched ignition wire only and the black ground wire to make the gauge work? And the hose of course.
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 6 жыл бұрын
It is possible however the gauge will reset itself once the ignition is turned off. Resetting will lose the saved color selection and any changes to the warning light.

I’d done this with my gauge and i noticed when the white wire was plugged into the constant 12v outlet it was keeping the light on when my car is turned off and wondering if i plug in the. Orange wire which is battery power to the illumination fuse 10A also have ground sorted it might turn the light off or do I need to find a diffuser fuse
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 3 жыл бұрын
The gauge should not have a white wire. Our gauges have red, yellow, orange, and black wires. Yellow = constant 12v Red = ignition only 12v Orange = headlight only 12v Black = ground

I’m looking to power 5 gauges and honestly have no idea where to start as I don’t want to splice 5 wires together obviously. What would I need to do so?

Here's a 4 gauge wiring kit and then you could just wire the 5th gauge separately. www.glowshiftdirect.com/7-color-series-4-gauge-wiring-kit-with-sensor-power-wires/

Will it work if i just use the old fuse that i removed and put it into the double blade fuse holder without the second h fuse in the video?

No, the point of using an expandable circuit is to have 2 fuses.

So if I have 3 gauges and then order 3 of these do I put all three orange wires into the one wire or do I have to buy 9 of these
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 7 жыл бұрын
You can wire up to 4 gauges to one expandable circuit. If you purchase a wideband gauge, we recommend wiring that to power by itself.

So im hoping im understanding this correctly, say i have a boost, oil pressure, and wideband gauge. i can run the red power wire from each gauge into ONE of the expandable circuts and plug it into the fuse panel? (planning on using my stereo fuse).. then the other wires can as well? (dont think the gauges i own have a dimmer or not) then i can put all 3 ground wires in the same place???? the gauges i have are not Glowshift but AEM Xseries gauges but should be the same concept correct? iv been looking everywhere for an answer to this. all the videos i find are for installing 1 gauge but i have multiple. Also, the expandable connector i bought doesnt have a fuse with it, should i use two 15 amp fuses? (stereo in my car is a 15amp fuse, so use that fuse plus another 15amp fuse?)
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for your question. Multiple Glowshift gauges can be wired together to work in a single fuse connection as well as ground but we cannot vouch that this is the same for another brand. For the expandable circuit, we recommend purchasing one that comes with a fuse.

+raul cruz Yes, but the circuit itself comes with 1 of the fuses you see. The other fuse is just the one that you're removing from the fuse panel to allow the circuit to be plugged in.

Does anyone know what fuses it would be for an 07 wrx? I'm going to the fuse box under the hood
@GlowShift
@GlowShift 8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I would not know the exact fuses you would use. I'd use a test light, or a multimeter, to test your fuses to see if they are switched or constant.

Why can’t they all go in the same 1?
@GlowShift

Because each color wire from the gauge is responsible for a different type of power.

Thank you for the videos, they are awesome! Will the 4 Amp fuse still be ok to power three gauges or would we need to upgrade the fuse? Thanks!
@GlowShift

The 4 amp will be sufficient to power 3 gauges. We recommend using the 3 gauges wiring harness for proper installation of multiple gauges.www.glowshiftdirect.com/7-color-series-wiring-kit/
