For what it's worth, and as a side-note, off-topic, ditty, let me also add this useful tip on how to think about tightening pedals and tightening cups. To simplify things, let me use a higher-end bike (I don't know about lower-end, maybe they are the same). Think of it this way: To LOOSEN pedals, e.g., look Blade, you turn the Allen wrench back toward the rear wheel for both drive-side and non-drive side; To TIGHTEN, turn the Allen wrench toward the front wheel for both drive and non-drive-side. Next, for cups (Italian threaded): Do just the opposite -- LOOSEN, turn the Allen wrench toward the front wheel and to TIGHTEN, turn the Allen toward the rear wheel for both the drive and non-drive side. IN the video above you'll see the CUP EXAMPLE in action. Hope this gives you a simpler way of thinking about install and removal. NO ONE EXPLAINS THIS IN A SIMPLE WAY, IN ORDER TO WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND IT, BUT THEY SHOULD. Regards, Cyclingmasterseller!

My specialized frame came with a ceramic speed bottom bracket. Can one use that with a Campy crank?

For Specialized bikes you will need either press fit OSBB cups(press-fit) or threaded BSA cups(Depending on how old your Specialized bike is). After this you can go for bearings from Ceramic Speed or Campagnolo super record which are ceramic as same as CERAMIC SPEED ones.

Can you use an $80 Bike Hand toolset (available at amazon) to remove/install Campagnolo cranks and bottom brackets? Or do you need set of tools specifically for Campagnolo?

BEFORE I ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, NOTE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE YOUR CUPS TO DO THIS JOB CORRECTLY. THERE IS NO NEED. I AM A PERFECTIONIST, AND HAVE DONE THIS JOB A MILLION TIMES, SO TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. AND NOW, YOUR ANSWER BELOW: To specifically answer your question, here is what you need to do to pull off your UT campy crank arms: Buy the Campagnolo bolt crank removal tool for $16 from www.modernbike.com, it will fit correctly and will never ever strip the inside fastener bolt. Next, purchase any decent 24mm socket -- it can be any brand and will have a 1/2 inch opening for your 1/2 socket wrench. This is all you will need to buy. Next, and most important not to forget, use some needle nose pliers and pull off the retaining cotter pin (which is notched on both sides of the bottom bracket cup), this will allow you to pull off your drive-side crank arm), as you pull out one side you'll be able to lift it up and off the rest of the way. Next, insert the 10mm campy bolt remover into the crank opening on the drive-side. Next, place your 24mm socket onto the end of this campy tool and turn counter-clockwise to loosen (turn left). Once you have the loosened and pull out the bolt which holds the hearth joint in place you'll now be ready to pull off both crank arms by gently wiggling and pulling them off. That's it, now you're ready to grease your bearings. If you are cleaning your bearings I recommend using an 80% fill rate of the blue syringe grease recommended for ceramic bearings. If you need to remove and replace your bearings I recommend THE PARK TOOL Ultra torque removal tool -- it's great stuff, and I'm a campy guy. Hope this helps. [NOTE: WHEN YOU GO TO RETIGHTEN THE CRANKARM BOLT, TORQUE TO 57nm (RECOMMENDED BY CAMPY USA) AND YOU MUST RE-INSTALL THE COTTOR PIN (LAST STEP IN THE PROCESS)] AS TO NOT DAMAGE YOUR BEARINGS WHILE RIDING.

@@rockefelleragent1357 You're welcome. NOTE: The information is for Campagnolo Ultra-Torque applications. If you would like another hint about pedal removal and cup removal, go back to this site and read my other comment, you may find it an easy way of thinking about it -- no one else will provide this advice, for they expect you to already know it -- how, I don't know. Cheers!
