UPDATE 3/5/2023 - We've had these lights for just over 3 years and I must say I'm still very impressed with the light they produce, this project was so worth it.
We do a lot of camping and often have things stored in the back of our truck, I installed additional bed lighting to improve night visibility for looking for things, fueling and starting/stopping our generator...etc. This additional lighting did not cost much and was easy to install. I must say it's a big improvement from the stock lighting I had before.
Note: Products I used and links to them are provided below.

Great video friend! I have some similar lights that I mounted as under cabinet lights in the house. I used some connectors and I'm not too happy with them. I'm going to have to go back and solder the connections so they get better connections one of these days.

Great video! I just ordered the same LED light strips and your install video is a perfect solution for my install preparation. Can I ask you, what is the brass fitting used for shown at 6:17 ? Perhaps a compressed air fitting? Thanks again!

You are going to really like these lights. Great catch on seeing the brass fitting :) I have a small on board air compressor for my air bags and I tapped into the line, the only problem is the compressor is to small and does not put out much air at all so I don't use it. Thanks for watching

Was that a "turd hearst" in the early part of your video in your truck bed? LOL! Another great informative video Mike!

Does your key have to be turned to use these lights, or does it have constant power to the switch?
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and your question. What I did was find a wire that had constant power and hooked the switch up to it. I'm so glad I did this project, it works great and everyone that sees it are amazed at how much light it puts out. So they only work with the ignition switch on or the park lights on, correct?
@thetraveltrailerguy
@thetraveltrailerguy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You have a great question, I should have mentioned this in my video. I found a wire that provides 12 volt power all the time. So I'm able to turn the lights on without having to turning on anything except the led light switch itself. Its possible that I connected into the hot wire that was going to the existing truck bed lights. www.youtube.com/@thetraveltrailerguy/videos

So why not tap into the factory bed light? Than it turns on all together

You know what you are right that's a great idea, I wish I had thought of that when I was doing this project. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

How did you find the “Hot” wire in the taillight? And I’m assuming you had to disconnect the battery before splicing into that hot wire….

How are they holding up? Have they falling off?
@thetraveltrailerguy

Hi Joshua, great question :) Its funny you asked it and I'm glad you did. I've checked around every couple months to make sure the adhesive is still holding the lights on and they are like the day I installed them :) I think the trick is to make sure the surface you are applying them to is very clean and dry. Thanks for asking and watching :)
