INSTALLATION PROBLEM - 2000 FORD EXPLORER XLT 4.0L V6 WITH 5R55E TRANSMISSION PART 1 OF 3

MY TRANSMISSION JUST WONT GO IN......AM I NOT SEEING SOMETHING??? When this happens, lining up the torque converter to the flexplate is possible but you'll notice that the transmission is seized internally if you try to do the installation. Why? Well, when the transmission was taken out, the input shaft accidentally got pulled outward and is not resting in its rightful place.

Hey everyone. I have a 04 Ford Explorer with 156,000 on it. So the past couple of months I have been having these symptoms. It seems to only happen when the vehicle has come to proper operating temperature. Meaning not when its cold. So it only does it, during medium acceleration, and on a level grade or down a hill. It also ONLY from what I can tell does it from gears 2 and 3. Its an automatic transmission. This problem is also extremely intermittent. Happening some days once or twice, and not happening at all for 2 or 3 days. It seems to make a shuttering...or rumbling sound when it hits gears 2 and 3. I have thrown around the theory of a servo or something like that...but I'm not completely sold on that one either. You guys think it could possibly be this or maybe just need a fluid change or something. Thanks

i have a 02 ford explorer xlt sport track, the problem i am having is i have no gears before it went out completely i would be driving then suddenly lose the gear and it would just rev then slam back in after a second or two, anyone know what could be the problem?

The Bell housing is not removable on a 2004 5R55E

I have this problem. Just bought a used trans and it would not go in all the way. Pulled it back out twice to check that the converter was in place. The shaft is not back in the trans far enough. I am puzzled though that I cannot pull the shaft out. It will not budge. Does the bell hsg have to be removed for the shaft to come out? I am worried it is forced back into something and is hung up. It appears the shaft needs to go back into the trans about 5/8". I would appreciate your comments since you have been there and done that. Thanks

May have been put in wrong. The shaft should come out without removing the bell housing. The end with the SHORTER SPLINES goes into the assembly.

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 and Im changing the transmission. the torque converter in the new transmission won't spin freely buy the old transmission torque converter spins freely. and the new one seizes up when u spin it by hand
