That's a really solid high-quality cover but boy that installation is not for the faint of heart. Last cover you'll ever install on that truck.

I went for the RetraxPro MX on my 22 Silverado refresh. It was easy to install, looks great, and no complicated wiring to install. I didn’t want to spend really $3000 USD for a cover. It works flawlessly. Couldn’t be happier and it was $1800 USD plus tax.

I have the same cover and love it. They also have an XR version which has the T rail track for adding accessories. They have a power version too, but I didn't want the hassle of wiring and something else to go wrong/bad with the truck. This EGR one has WAY too many holes that need to be drilled!

I install an electric tonneau cover in my 2021 GMC 3500, 8 ft bed. Drilled only two holes in the front for drainage and used the exiting holes at the rear (rubber grommets at the top for additional rail drainage and routed the tubing behind the rear stop light assembly. Electrical routing was easy around the driver frame rail. Bluetooth control box was attached on the cover body using the electrical connectors at the cover box on the drivers side. Easy pessy! As I am looking for a new, first time ever, pickup truck, this cover really looks good on the truck. I need to see one installed. My concern is the electric mechanism and it's size. I am not a contractor or use it for a business. But still, it takes some real estate. Second, the drilling part for someone who has never done this before and I am pretty handy, not sure. One mistake and you are screwed. This thing is not cheap + possibly installed by a shop. I have to see one working. BTW....I have the same T. Wrench, 2 sizes. Great tool. I'm back! Got my cover and started the install. Apologies for the wall of text/questions. I'm currently on electrical: Did you have to remove your battery to cut that nipple from the firewall plug and pass through your wiring the first time? In the video you already had that aux wiring as a guide but there's no way I can get my hands/arms in there from what I can tell. Their video looks like they completely removed the battery, but wasn't sure if that was just to get a clearer shot of that step or if it was necessary. And then, for passing through the wire, did you use the old "coat hanger" trick the first time? Finally, I removed some of that sound deadening from the passenger side under the glove box, but I'm a big guy and can't see the other side of that plug the wires will come through--there's also a lot of electrical in the way from what I can tell. Any hints about getting it through or seeing it? Same with going from the passenger side to the driver side at the front of the console, any hints? Finally, did you go above or behind your brake pedal with the wiring? It looks like I have to go in front of it, but wasn't sure if I should leave enough slack in case I ever have to remove the brake pedal. I noticed in their install video, they completely removed the brake pedal from the truck.
@abrams_604 ай бұрын
Figured out some of my issues. 2024s are different than 2023s. There's a computer in front of the firewall opening, and the rubber plug is different as well. Now I just have to deal with the wiring.
