A keymind used to be the stage of progression once the Flood had eaten all life on a whole planet, basically a super gravemind. However, the Halo Wars 2 DLC retconned the lore to where a keymind is any flood form that controls other flood forms. So anything from a juggernaut or proto gravemind to what once was called a keymind.

@35:49 I don't know for sure about the *fear* part but I recall an Infection Form can indeed share *pain* of a host in some cases; such as the unfortunate case of Private Jenkins. There was a part in the novelization where the infected Jenkins/Combat Form broke its/their wrist in order to attack one of the soldiers with the jagged bone but the agonizing pain both the parasite and Jenkins felt was enough to knock it unconscious. Allowing Jenkins to take over a little bit and warn the present troopers of the pending Flood attack to their base. 🤓

Installation 8? I thought that lore referred to it as Installation 04b due to it being intended to replace the original Installation 04 destroyed during Halo CE?

I already know that Bungie Forerunners are Humans and have been supporting my argument with irrefutable evidence for years. There's also nobody else who's replied to my comment calling out 343's retcon and how it makes a planetary sized plothole in regards to the Gravemind. Whats insane is the story of the planet that was wiped out before the flood landed. Every living being on the planet ended themselves before the flood could invade. Terrifying.
