Great job man! Thanks for sharing. I'm ready to drop my 67 C10 thanks to your video and me getting all my parts in.

You don't even need to touch the ball joints, unbolt the u-bolts at the inner lower control arm and put a floor jack under the shaft. Really easy.

Excuse my ignorance., I'm new to these projects, I just bought a 71 c10 and thinking about lowering it,, I've been watching videos and I think I could do it myself, just one question, I see on the market 2.5/4, 3/5, 4/5 front-rear lowering kits, how the front-rear numbers work? Which kit drops the most?

I have shorter springs in my 68 C10 with about 2” of clearance left before the lower arm touches the top, but there’s still at least 1-2” of gap above the tire and fender. I’m on 20’s with low-profile tires. What can I do to bring it down without bottoming out?

Did you use the original mounting hardware where the shock connects to the control arm or did you buy new ones?

@@paulkc10 ok because mine only came with hardware for the top mount.

My first thought looking at this video is.... Before I would ever lower any vehicle I need to know it will stop when I hit the brakes. I would get rid of those drum brakes and install disc. I totaled a Road Runner when I was a teen that had drum brakes because I couldn't get it to stop. Safety first!!!!!

Hey man how did the truck end up riding with just the lowering springs up front? I have a 68 GMC and I’m thinking about doing a flip kit and 3” drop springs to save money for now and do drop spindles later.

I know I am late on the chain, I would take older springs and cut out a 1/2 a coil off to see how it lowers it.

Lowering springs are cheap. Doesn’t make sense to have clapped out springs with crazy spring rates.

How did it drive with the 3/5 drop on just springs/shocks? I was thinking about doing that to my 71 but now I'm leaning towards a 2/4 drop just so I'll still have some suspension travel.

@@paulkc10 finally started on lowering my 71! Had to cut the rear springs out, then needed new hardware, then realized my exhaust would interfere with the rear axle so I had to re-route that. Then I replaced ever single piece of brake hardware in the back. Then got even more sidetracked and started painting the frame. Rear is now done though and onto the front!

so the upper control shims will fall out if I don't do anything other then 3 in drop springs and shocks?
@paulkc106 жыл бұрын
That’s what I’m told. When you first put them in it’s fine but once you get an alignment done the shims will likely come out. Or at least are “at risk” of falling out.
@tylerharrison32436 жыл бұрын
Looking good! I have a 67 c10 stock height and am going to lower it soon. Heard if you went lower than 2 in drop " springs" on the front it would mess up your alignment to much ?? That's why most put drop spindle then lowering spring. Any problems with the 3 drop when you got it aligned? Thanks
@paulkc106 жыл бұрын
Yea you need to add spacers to the control arm. Shims will fall out. There are nice kits for around $50. I haven’t gotten an alignment yet bc I’m overhauling all the bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends.
