Looks awesome! I dropped my Dakota at my friend's house because his driveway is level. I used the Belltech 4/4 drop kit. It was easy to install the front. The rear hangers & replacing the ball joints was a pain. Love the fact you are doing work at home like most of us, instead of a fancy shop. Keeping it real!

Love the truck and your content, keep it up. I’ve got a 67 with a 5/7 drop as well and CPP tubular up front. As you mentioned the drive quality is not the best but I’m wanting to improve it. I’d like to do more traveling in the truck and my current setup basically has the top spring mount bracket riding on my bump stop with not much room for travel when I hit those bumps at 75mph. I’m considering replacing my 3 inch drop springs with 2 inch springs. So basically the reversal of what you did to your truck. In your opinion would going to a 2 inch greatly improve my drive quality? Thank you

What is your truck like to drive daily? Does it handle well with the springs you installed? Do you have rubbing issues?
@UNITEDBYTRUCKS5 жыл бұрын
I don't drive it daily per se. There is a dramatic difference in the ride quality from 4.5/6 to 5.5/7. Basically, it needs sway bars to handle "well" in my opinion. And yes, I have some rubbing issues at the front inner fender at highway speeds on big interstate bumps.

What can I say, except that "Teddy" is now one sweet looking old "bear" of a truck! That is right around where I want my '79 C/30 dually crew to be sitting, but not 100% sure, seeing that she is so long. I just might end up being hung up just trying to drive it from the road, up an every day ordinary entrance slope across a sidewalk to my favorite "ARBY'S" or any other eating establishment that happens to catch my eye at the precise moment when my stomach growls, confirming that is what I must partake in, or not be happy for the rest of the day...... possibly. 🤔 😁 ! So what do you think about the 5½ & 7 drop on mine? Would be grateful for any insight that you may have on my behemoth for a good drop. Thanks, Gordon.
@UNITEDBYTRUCKS5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Gordon! I would most definitely go with a 5/7 or even 6/8 for a crew cab dually. That's what we're going with on our single cab dually and is a pretty common drop on squarebody c30s.

On the 67-87 trucks you can simply swap the springs in the front. The rear is where they are different. The 73-up trucks need a flip kit to get 5"+ in the rear. 72-down, to '63, you can simply swap springs out on the trailing arms.

@UNITEDBYTRUCKS5 жыл бұрын
Hey, man! I'm running 235/45/20 in front and 285/40/20 and the c-notch won't lower it but it will definitely help keep your frame from contacting your rear axle when you get that low. Anything more than 5" and you need to consider a c-notch

How much did your slip yoke that attaches the driveshaft to transmission move forward after you lowered it?
@UNITEDBYTRUCKS5 жыл бұрын
You know I don't know. I can say, it did not move very much from 4.5/6 drop to 5.5/7 drop.

Really? That's what you had to say after that video? Oh boy. I've never even completely washed the truck. I won't be polishing the bumper.

Why didn't you install new ball joints & tie rod ends? Now you need to do this all over again. If it's a money thing. Wait another month or two down the road. Then do it once. 1 inch isn't worth that much work twice. Now three times. You did the first set. Did you wire wheel & paint the rear spring holders & buy new bolts?

Lee Olaeta boy, everybody’s an arm chair critic these days. Ball joints and tie rod ends have been changed within last year, 1 inch is worth it to me, and it was an exercise to show those who don’t know ho to change springs how to do it. And no, i buttoned up the rear just the way it came apart. It’s all getting changed again soon.
