Thanks for the detailed video. It gave me enough courage to tackle the project myself. Only difference was I used a large bushing removal tool that I found on eBay ( 27 piece kit was about $100 - which I'll probably sell). Easily removed and installed the replacement bushing on the subframe. Keep up the great Z videos.

Thanks for the vid - watching you do it gave me the courage to finally decide to cut the OEM bushing out instead of buying a 1-time use tool. Took a cumulative 12 hours over a couple of weeks (in and around the work schedule), but well worth it. I went with Z1 urethanes originally (more about that below), and ended up changing the diff fluid out as well while it was dropped. Some notes: - If you have get access to it, use a transmission jack - makes it one-person easy and safe. - I believe someone mentioned it, but using a multi-oscillating tool greatly eases up the tear away of the old bushing. Use a thin cutter rotated 90 deg and radially cut the front and rear faces of the bushing - then you can just tap the inner collar out. Don't underestimate the OEM bushing - it lives up to it's reputation. - The larger Z1 rear bushing is a BEAR to put in! It has to go in perfectly straight, and although the manual doesn't mention it, use of lube is a must! I ended up cutting out the Z1 bushing as it got stuck (it's slightly larger in diameter than the Whitelines). I ended up putting in a Nolathane (similar/same design as the Whitelines), and that was significantly easier. Front and rear bushings took 45 mins to install, total. - I'm a stickler for following torque requirements in the FSM, so I needed to purchase an extra long 17mm box end wrench to free up the drive shaft bolts, and smaller 3/8" drive 17mm and 14mm torque wrench adapters to torque down the drive shaft and half shaft flange bolts. Again, great vid! You made it look easy, but gave ample warnings for all the trip points you'll encounter when doing this job; THANKS!

Re the poly bush, there is actually different ratings for how "strong/hard" the polyurethane is. For instance most rally cars use approx 120 shore rating, where the standard one in a Polo is a 35/50 depending which mounting it is. Warning, do not use a high shore rating on your engine mounts, it causes a ton of vibration in your car, just /2c.

A corded oscillating tool, might be a good handy dandy toy, for you Jay. As convenient as battery is, the power and no going dead mid use, corded is just best on those. Get a variety of bits and blades, and lots of shop diy home improvement, pc modding, uses. Replaces a recip, disk grinder, paint scraper, chizling, wood metal plastic, masonry, tile grout, all in one tool. By all means review it, seek one out for review, or how ever you chose to acquire one. They definitely come in so handy, more controlled than a recip saw, and less blade wagging out of sight to cut something by accident. Great for small delicate work, or big stuff. I wont recommend which one, or what bits, most are interchangeable between brands, or adapters to use. You are a smart feller, and can come up with better than anyone could tell you to go get. Keep up the great content.

You could of pressed out the old bushing the same way that you put the new one in. put a large socket on the one end with a bold going through the center. and on the opposite end put a nut. then just tighten and it would of pulled the bushing towards and into the socket. then just pop the bushing out and press the new one in the way you did. saves so much time and don't have to deal with cutting the old one out

You know what's handy AF for that drilling job you did, one of those 90 degree angle chucks for drills. They are cheap and just chuck in like a bit, gears transfer revoluciousity on the 90 to the second chuck and you're laughin'! You don't need them often but when you do they save a lot of pain. That's my unsolicited 'uh actually if you did it this way' advice for the day haha. Great video man, you took on a decent bit of work here but better than giving those robbing bastards your cash and having them butcher your car probably anyway.

I hate bushings. I replaced them on the control arms on my old Civic in a similar fashion. It took a couple of days for me because one of the sets I ordered were label for my car but weren't, so I had to deal with that nonsense. To make things worse is after all the work I did, someone stopped extremely short in front of me on a rainy day about four months later and I rear-ended them and totaled my car.
