@@brayannexon4613 GM doesn't, but Opel / GM does. What's in the car is a 6 speed manual, M32. Very common overseas. GM does what they do best. V6's and V8's, along with their transmissions. The Opel / GM division does what they do best. FWD applications. The M32 is a tried and true FWD trans, with a lot of aftermarket support. The weakest point will be the axles. Very common to snap those with some power and slicks.

eBay turbos are definitely hit and miss, I currently am running a gt3582 eBay one on my built h22a. It’s been a good turbo so far. I’m not afraid to push it, cause honestly If it breaks then it’s ok cause it’s a cheap turbo but so far it’s good. It all depends on the set up and the oil feeding system etc. I’m not running the coolant side of the turbo, I may run that side once summer hits. But so far it’s been good. I’m really enjoying this build cause no one really do this to a Cruz. This is cool.

HP Tuners. It's pretty much the industry standard for domestic vehicles. The Equinox is list on their supported vehicle list. Lots of tuners know how to use it, and good tutorials on KZbin as well. That would be my suggestion being that you can reflash the ECU without having to go stand alone.

I'm guessing the Cruze is pretty well known for the #3 spark plug coming loose. My car was the exact same it was making a chirping noise and I got it cheap because the guy though the engine was on its way out. All it was is the plug backed out on the same cylinder you had all oily when u pulled the coil pack. I replaced the plugs and have been checking the torque about every oil change on all the plugs. I think for whatever reason the plugs love backing out from vibration. I didn't lock tight them in just some anti seize.

It's crazy how people let cars go cheap over minor problems. In my case, it was just the valve cover needed replacing. The rubber tends to harden after time, so did the oil cooler gaskets. But one of my buddies picked up a 90's Ford Explorer V8 for $800. Had 70k miles. They sold it because they had a school replace the shifter cable, so it wasn't going into gear. The kids just happened to not secure the cable boot / grommet at the floor where it comes in. I help my buddy figure out the issue while sitting around and he was like, hey... help me figure this out. Snapped the boot in, and secured the stock 10mm bolt that kept it in place. Works like a champ now.

@@cmattdabrat yeah I definitely need to look into the oil cooler gasket car has almost 300,000km but still running strong. I am replacing the turbo feed line soon I hear that's another major flaw it plugs up with carbon being right under the exhaust manifold.

In Australia we have the Holden astra and cruise some come with a 1.8 turbo petrol model you can get one of there manifolds snd turbo set for about $250 on eBay also your oil return runs up hill from what I can see if you have got any smoking issues that’s y return lines should never run up hill unless you have a good quality pump installed to push the oil away

You're absolutely correct! This is what I'd call stage 1 of the build. I spent a total of about $1300. Most of it DIY. Stage 2 it's getting forged pistons, beefier rods, 1200 cc injectors, rotating assembly balanced, ARP hardware, aluminum flywheel, etc. Shooting for 450-500whp and hopefully low 11's or high 10's. I'll continue posting as the build unfolds.

@@cmattdabrat interesting. I've had mine for about 8 years. I wonder if I should just replace it while I'm replacing my cam shaft sprockets. (I own the GM repair manuals and they say a grinding sound for a few seconds at start up could mean the sprockets are not holding oil for the cams apparently)

imma add an air cooled turbo, no oil, no water-cooling, only bearing grease from Comp on my chevy Aveo. The smallest turbo they have is rated for 545hp which is obviously overkill but oh well. I'm glad I watched this video as i didn't geta owner's manual with my car and this showed me pretty much where i needed to install my blow off valve and my waste gate since I'm doing a rear mounted turbo to keep it naturally aspirated like the turbo Edit: NOPE: maf sensor is weird, and idk which way to install to stop lag. just gonna bypass extra pressure back to turbo
