I’m not afraid to push it, cause honestly If it breaks then it’s ok cause it’s a cheap turbo but so far it’s good. It all depends on the set up and the oil feeding system etc. I’m not running the coolant side of the turbo, I may run that side once summer hits. But so far it’s been good. I'm guessing the Cruze is pretty well known for the #3 spark plug coming loose. My car was the exact same it was making a chirping noise and I got it cheap because the guy though the engine was on its way out. All it was is the plug backed out on the same cylinder you had all oily when u pulled the coil pack. I replaced the plugs and have been checking the torque about every oil change on all the plugs. I think for whatever reason the plugs love backing out from vibration. I didn't lock tight them in just some anti seize.
@cmattdabrat Жыл бұрын
It's crazy how people let cars go cheap over minor problems. In my case, it was just the valve cover needed replacing. The rubber tends to harden after time, so did the oil cooler gaskets. But one of my buddies picked up a 90's Ford Explorer V8 for $800. Had 70k miles. They sold it because they had a school replace the shifter cable, so it wasn't going into gear. The kids just happened to not secure the cable boot / grommet at the floor where it comes in. I help my buddy figure out the issue while sitting around and he was like, hey... help me figure this out. Snapped the boot in, and secured the stock 10mm bolt that kept it in place. Works like a champ now.
@johnsnow1355 Жыл бұрын
@@cmattdabrat yeah I definitely need to look into the oil cooler gasket car has almost 300,000km but still running strong. I am replacing the turbo feed line soon I hear that's another major flaw it plugs up with carbon being right under the exhaust manifold.

Using torque wrench as a breaker bar is a great way to throw off the calibration and accuracy of the torque wrench. Breaker bars are like $15.

Wondering how much of your oil issue was due to oil backing up into the turbo. The oil drain should tip into the pan; your install appeared to be tipping out of the pan.
@cmattdabrat3 жыл бұрын
It was the lack of a check valve in the PCV.

Actually you want some restrictor to the feed, too much oil can give higher resistance to the impeller axle :)

I do a lot of my own work on my 13 1.8 Cruze. Could you teach me something? Why was the coil pack and park plug area covered in oil on the one spot.
@cmattdabrat3 жыл бұрын
Nice! Just needed a new cam / valve cover gasket is all. After 8 years of heat cycles, gaskets will harden and not seal up properly.
@kyleboone80423 жыл бұрын
@@cmattdabrat interesting. I've had mine for about 8 years. I wonder if I should just replace it while I'm replacing my cam shaft sprockets. (I own the GM repair manuals and they say a grinding sound for a few seconds at start up could mean the sprockets are not holding oil for the cams apparently)
@-coldheartcentral-96967 ай бұрын
imma add an air cooled turbo, no oil, no water-cooling, only bearing grease from Comp on my chevy Aveo. The smallest turbo they have is rated for 545hp which is obviously overkill but oh well. I'm glad I watched this video as i didn't geta owner's manual with my car and this showed me pretty much where i needed to install my blow off valve and my waste gate since I'm doing a rear mounted turbo to keep it naturally aspirated like the turbo Edit: NOPE: maf sensor is weird,and idk which way to install to stop lag. just gonna bypass extra pressure back to turbo
