The manufacture and sales team for the Hyundai 210 couldn’t have picked a better operator to introduce this new excavating technology to Indiana. It looks like intergrading this technology into the excavator will make digging more accurate for burying everything from utility lines to plumbing. It takes all the guess work out for the operators and surveyors. Great video Mike.

Mike, just wanted to say thank you for bringing us along in this video and also a HUGE thanks to Hyundai for allowing all of this to be recorded!! I think there may be several companies that would not allow this recording on a "prototype" as you called it. That to me speaks volumes about their willingness to help their customers.

Mike, I believe this is a great fit for what you doing. I also watch MrAJWorks and he uses 3D for digging trenches on grade as well. For digging on grade, I really don't see much differences in the systems (2D vs 3D), except you have to reset every time you move the machine, where as he marks his start and stopping points, then digs. You basically only need 3D to keep it on a straight and to save a few key strokes, but how often will you need to track on a straight path? MrAJ's only complaint is loosing connection to Satellites in the forest areas, and grade goes nuts-so. NOTE: You should ask Hyundai about the accuracy when the Excavator is not sitting flat (One track higher than the other). There is an slight impact that may cause some variances. BTW: With all of the welding that Hyundai has allowed you to do on this machine, it sure looks like they anticipate you buying this sucker! 😁😁😁😁

Machine seems to be working very smoothly. Not much shown, but didn't seem as though you had much of a learning curve on the machine itself. As for the 2D MG system. It is my belief that Hyundai prefers to incorporate well proven equipment/accessories that enhance their equipment at a reasonable cost rather than run after the trends. While it may seem that they are late to the party, when they do come, there isn't the performance issues that new innovation seems to bring for others. Also, as you pointed out, keeping their equipment priced reasonably is a big concern. Just my opinion. Thanks very much for sharing.

Same technology as load monitors, I used to work excavators for railway work, with man baskets or lifting, they all had Prolec monitors on the base, boom, dipper and basket. Add a pressure monitor and ground angle and rotation sensor and you know what your load is and where it is in relation to your tip limit. If you have the system switched on it will lock you out from doing something stupid.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Very interesting video. Mixed feelings about this technology, well worth having if you don’t need it, afraid going forward new operators, will never gain the skills you have developed and become dependent on systems like this. “Turn it off when Gunner is learning ” Wishing you and your family the best.
@allandebuff14162 жыл бұрын
So this must not be quite like Cats system I ran. With it you don't need a laser or GPS it is very similar setup but once you have grade or slope selected buy putting your tooth on a grade spot or hub and as long as you don't move the machine won't let you dig any deeper than what your grade or slope is? Then you back up and set it again on the last spot that was grade that you can still reach. It's really nice as you don't have to constantly look at the screen or listen to the beeping all the time as your digging. You just dig and it won't let the machine dig deeper then grade or slope selected.
@thatdave862 жыл бұрын
When watching many of your videos,and the semi competition between you and person checking the grades ,you come up pretty well spot on with measurements,all without assistance,so I think this system is just a double check for operator abilities,not so skilled operators may benefit this ,and may just speed up their learning and gained experience,but in some cases if you ain't got it ,you ain't got it ,it's a talent that individuals have and ,we all have specific abilities,not everyone has the gene pool loading . Outsiders probably don't realise the connection between man (women )and machine ,you become one . Enjoy your experience with this machine 🙂
@adventuresinlandservice66562 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the biggest benefit of the guidance system for a small company is that you will not have to decide whether you want be on and off of the machine checking grade and wasting time or paying someone to hold a grade stick.

One more thing , on the Trimble system (I previously said tremble due to autocorrect), as your teeth wear, it’s not a recalibration,it’s just entering the amount of wear, so it’s real quick, no need for plumb lines, it is based on distance from bucket pin center to tip of cutting edge)

Would have to say a wire is easier to splice in the field than a hose, and the jacket around the lower end and the cover for the lower sensor looks like a good first line of defense. Granted accidents happen but if it does pose a repeat problem I'd think a guy with a welder buddy could come up with a stronger cover and conduit up the boom. So long as it doesn't cause rubbing with the wires. I'd bet it's another thing Hyundai will watch as the prototype process.

Affordable and helps make your job just that much easier. I'd call this one a no-brainer, and definitely a must-have for guys just like you. Especially now that you got that nice new machine and all of the bells and whistles, like that new thumb and a new for you "Guidance Assistance" for that nice new bucket. And it looks like it's gonna be nice and easy to switch buckets when you dig those trenches. So what are you waiting for, get yourself out there and start laying some more of that field tile into the ground? CHOP, CHOP

Before I got sick, at work we used to just use regular laser common very similar to the one you were using to double-check to see if the machine was accurate. I didn't do a lot of it I really don't have a whole lot of experience with it, but I have used it enough to know, I used to know how to set it up, I'm sure if somebody showed me I'd pick it right back up it's not that hard, but nothing is more accurate than that in my opinion

Can see this coming in very handy on long trenches and digging basements among other things. The potential time saving of getting out to double check grade can certainly add up over time. Have never been able to use anything that fancy but can see the clear benefits over the magnetic receiver being stuck to the side of the boom as it takes the guess work out of the geometry of the bucket to the stick and boom. Look forward to seeing more of this as it progresses. Huge thanks to WB, Hyundai and you DP 😁👍

Looks awesome, I personally have used the tremble system for about four years now. I had it on a 140 Volvo and when I sold that machine I took the sensors and wires off and installed it on a EC 60 Volvo. It was really easy to use and is super accurate. I like it so much I’m going to put it on another machine. When I dig Septic Tanks now I touch off, swipe the laser, dig my entire hole to depth without ever even checking. I’ve done enough of them so I know when I do check the bottom of the hole with the laser before the tank arrives it’s always right on the money. I think you’re going to love it. I also use it without a laser a lot of times and digging swells, just touching off each time I move the machine to something previously dug, and that always works as well

1) Great video and thanks for sharing 2) A cool feature upgrade to that new module would be some type of GPS tracker feature and the ability to record to an SD card or similar the depths you set in the system and allow the GPS feature to track the path you took for your digging. You (or any person) could take the card, download the data, and input that into some master site plan for those that need to check grades on building plans, etc, and compare it to what was dug at the time of implementation. I suspect a satellite feature might be the best version for GPS as access to cellular GPS triangulation might not always be available. So glad you shared this and its so cool watching technology be incorporated into the construction industry!
