Installing a BARKAN model 3400 Full Motion TV wall mount

So for the bolts that go in the plastic housing, that part makes it so that the tv can tilt down, but if you dont tighten the screws that go in those bolts, it is always down. If you tighten them, it is up and you can slide it down but it makes the up and down rough and rub the paint/metal. Did you find this to happen as well? Seems weird right?

I think you position the TV where you want it then tighten the bolts to hold the mount in the desired position. Good Luck with your install!

I have a corner shelf in our master bedroom that was built in when we built our house. I want to mount it to that. is there a mount that you could attach to the top of the shelf. I have been unable to find such a mount so I am thinking I may have to mount a board about 36" wide by around 18" high on the shelf that I could attach the TV mount to. I am getting a larger TV and the shelf is too small to set it there without enlarging the shelf.

Hmmm... It should be mounted to a stud so it's strong enough. If you know where the stud is you could mount it through the cabinet into the stud. Good Luck!

@@robsgaragewoodworkin it’s a shelf, not a cabinet. The shelf is securely fastened to the wall so I used three metal brackets fastened to the top of the shelf to support it.

why did you use an impact driver lol. rusted wall stud? also, i waited to the see how it functions in terms of swivel and got a stationary object that you couldn't even move to install the covers and cables

My room is 1/2" OSB and I mounted the lag bolts into the 2X4 studs. I could have used a regular drill but the impact driver doesn't twist your wrist as much. The mount is stiff but still mobile. If it's too tight you may be able to loosen the bolts on the swivel's just a touch.

very helpful video! I have a 37 pound tv that is missing 1 of the mounting screw holes (the bottom left one, i think it fell into the tv). i just ordered this mount before realizing. will i be ok hanging the tv with the 3 of the 4 mounting holes connected?

Oh that sucks! You mean the PEM nut mounted in the plastic TV housing. I can't say if 3 is enough for sure but you could use it as an excuse to buy a bigger and better TV... Cheers! Rob

They carry a large selection of unusual furniture hardware at Lowe’s/HD. Just remove one of the screws & ask someone in hardware to find a match. (Get extras and tape them on the back of the tv.)

OMG I bought the 2200 version. The directions are a joke. Mine was the longer arm. It's shorts but tilts and "swivels" it's just a slight turn to be able to access the back. I don't know if I got a bad one, the nut & screw on the "swivel part, the part that the tv hooks onto (it's looks just like yours) would not budge even when I used the socket. Your video was the best one on this brand for sure. Their youtube page shows nothing! I hope it was just an issue with this one piece and another will work.

I would recommend mounting the unit to a wall stud (like in the video) as it gives you the most strength and there is a lot of pressure in a small area with this mount. Good luck with your install! Cheers! Rob

Hi, I'm a girl so I'm already confused. The arms already have bolts and washers to attach to the back plate, but I see no washers on your arms that attach to the plate. Are the washers extras? grrr Thank you for any help. 🙏

The arms that get bolted to the tv should have washers. They came with the kit. If you don't have them then your kit may be missing hardware from the factory or another customer opened and lost it or returned the product without the hardware package. If your bolts have larger flat heads that are much larger than the slots then maybe the manufacturer has changed hardware and they are not necessary. Ask a handy neighbour or return to the store with the product. I hope this has helped. Good Luck! Cheers! Rob
