Installing a ceiling fan on a 45 pitch

Never having installed a ceiling fan before I didn't think installing one on a ceiling with a steep pitch would be a problem. After this I think I could install a ceiling fan anywhere. :)

Great information! I Work maintenance and every ceiling fan I have put up was on a flat ceiling. The only issue I run into is having to stand on someone's bed without them finding out I stood on their bed. The apartments I work on were built with lights that work on a switch in the bedroom only. The living room has a half normal plug for a lamp. Trying to explain that concept to residents is challenging at times. Anyway if I move on to another property that has ceilings like yours I'll know what to do.

This had to be one of the most frustrating parts of the house build. I really don't like buying something and finding out that it doesn't work for what its supposed to, but its done now and I know how to fix another problem that could arise in the future. :)

My theory is that computer design is responsible for many parts not fitting. in the past they would make a prototype or go and measure something. now if computer says it fits, it does.

Does the ceiling fan wobble at higher speeds?

If the fan is not balanced it will wobble but if it's balanced correctly it wont wobble. Thanks for watching. :)

That crossbar isn't suitable for fan support. The rating is for lighting fixtures not fans . There is a difference fans move vibrate etc lights don't. look at a typical fan brace it will say something along the lines of rated 80 lb for fans 250 lb lighting fixtures. I appreciate your dilemma and give you a thumbs up for effort but i am afraid your installation isn't code compliant according to the nec.

I don't know anything about it, what I can tell you is that my local inspector and my electrician didn't bat an eye at it when they inspected it. Not to say they know everything. And I'm working on a better way to move air around then house so this fan will turn into a light in about 6 months. I really don't like the way the fan seems so close to my head as I walk down the stairs. I couldn't hit my head on it if I tried but it just feels close. If you followed the channel you would know that we are covering the interior walls of the house with blue pine we mill from our property. The blue pine will attach much better to the OSB than it would to sheetrock. :)
