I learned a lot from this video…. First and foremost it reinforced what I know - building a van is really an exercise in patience and problem solving! Loved the bed buildout. I found that really helpful. I’ll be back to watch again. Thanks for taking the time to share! Good work!

Ha! So right!! Glad it helped. We're super excited with how it's all coming together. Then next video will be an entire 57" high column of drawers instead of the pull out pantry we had planned. Much better use of space. Thanks for watching. Feel free to contact us at ClarityOffGrid.com if you have any detailed questions. Leave us an email with a phone number and I can get back via text, phone, or Face Time if needed. Caio! Good luck with your project!

The winter van build is starting to come together. With the composting toilet and the double bed installed, the van is feeling more like home. Can't wait to get back on the road! Leave us a comment and connect. We love hearing from you.

Beautifully photographed. Plus, always interested to see how the van build is coming, and it looks great! Thanks also for mentioning the tool that can drill and tap in one go.

A great video! Love the details…could watch you for hours. Wow…the bed frame looks solid with amazing attention to detail. I know filming and editing these videos is time consuming but are super enjoyable for your fans.

That really is a solid bed platform! Good job doing the toilet cubby. So often the difficulty is in the details, and you just don't know till you get there. I'm looking forward to the eclipse as well. I live east of Ottawa Ontario, right on the path! Hope you finish in time! Suzane

Thanks for the feedback on the details. You are so right.You can plan and plan and then the details bite back. 😳. The eclipse is a good motivator since we'll be meeting family for it. 🤞 we get it done enough to travel. Matt's making a heroic effort!!

The van is looking awesome. Thanks for that video. Here in NZ we have new, very strict rules for freedom camping van certification. You just showed me a great toilet solution.

Thanks. Glad the video shed some light on toilet solutions. We had a similar design in our first van with doors that swung open. We had a Nature's Head in that van. Different toilet, slightly different design considerations. Bummer about the restrictions - seems to be "going around". Maybe this will help too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5aQopZ6rb6df68

You did a great job with the toilet and bed install bud, however, I don't think I have the necessary skills for this job 😁

Thanks! We can't wait to put it to use and get back to capturing nature with our cameras. I'm very lucky to have Matt and his compliment of skills!!! You have your own gifts from what I can see from your lovely videos. Thanks for watching.

Starting to take shape guys, will you have a shower in your van? With the toilet I’ve been looking at one called Separett Tiny toilet. Works on a bag system and thought this to be an option for us. Look forward to the next one 👍
@ClarityOffGrid6 ай бұрын
Thanks, Rodney! Yes, it feels like it is finally coming together. We will have an outdoor shower just like the one in Clarity I. We'll have a shower curtain that fits across the open back doors for privacy. When it's too cold to shower outside we use the sink inside for a sponge bath. That worked great for us in Clarity I. It's nice that there are lots of toilet options. Glad you found one that will work for you. Keep us posted.

Liked your toilet. Is that the same toilet you have in your house?
@ClarityOffGrid6 ай бұрын
Yup. The Air Head we bought for the van didn't work, so we're using the "house toilet". I sure like the C-Head/Boon Jon for home and travel. I'd buy another one so we could have one back in the house if they were still in business. Hope you're well.

Hi, hope you get chance to take the van to catch the eclipse (we'll be chasing it too!) Not sure if we missed something, but is the toilet drawer somehow reinforced to support the weight of a person using it in the extended position?
@ClarityOffGrid6 ай бұрын
Great observations! We did kind of drop the ball on the toilet drawer details. The drawer that Matt showed under construction is the "charging drawer" that is installed above the toilet. The toilet drawer is made from 1/2" materials and is mounted on 400# drawer slides. We mounted the drawer 3/4" above the finished floor so that it will clear an area rug. P.S. we don't actually weigh 400#s. 😳 It's a good idea to give at least 1/4" space under the drawer because with weight the drawer can scratch the floor in the extended position. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, i am wondering what kind/brand of hinge you are using for your C-head drawer. Are they floating hinge or do they roll on the floor considering the weight on them ?, thanks in advance, (sorry for my poor english), Denis from Québec, Canada
@ClarityOffGrid3 ай бұрын
Great question. We used 300lb drawer slides. The drawer slides in and out without touching the floor and they support more weight than we would ever put on them. Hope I explained that clearly. Let us know.
