Today we install our drip line irrigation system in the greenhouse. It's going to be a huge help in the garden, significantly cutting down our watering time. Seth and I also begin our trip to Alaska, and Julie, Colin, and Sarah at home make their first meal from the garden.

Perhaps you can attach a gutter to the greenhouse and use it to capture rainwater in an IBC tote. Be sure to start a compost pile and put all greens and brown stuff there and turn it regularly and you will get amazing dirt...

We used the rain bird drip system for our christmas tree farm. It worked well to water them, we had a timer we could set and "zones" we could manually turn on and off. A few things worth noting: Anything plastic can AND WILL snap over winter. The plastic lines contract and expand too, so even staking them down is a pain because once they heat up they will pop up :( We bought metal stakes on Amazon and used those instead to stake down. Lastly, the pH of your water can affect your plants. I'd put a hose filter on the spigot and change it every 3 weeks. I made the mistake of NOT listening to my subs on this and killed LOTS of my christmas tree seedlings due to high pH (needed low pH). Keep a sharp eye on your soil pH just to be sure :) But, it's definitely a great way to BEAT any droughts and save time!

Any seeds you can find that are Heritage are the best. they are usually passed down from person to person. Be sure to consider planting herbs that can be later dried and hung upside down to dry. You need to use the higher parts of the greenhouse as well. Planting corn or wheat to of you can find good version. And of course some catnip for the kitties. They would also like some wheat grass for their greens. It helps their digestion...

A really nice way to begin the summer season! Even when Marty is not there, his influence persists with all the grammar peculiarities (technically errors) that Julie and Sarah and maybe Colin commit. Using an adjective instead of an adverb.

I always find the differences between US English and UK English fascinating. What you call worms, we call caterpillars. In the UK, worms are either internal parasites or burrowers like earthworms and lugworms. Oh, and flatworms.

Don't throw away the main broccoli stem, peel away the green fibrous parts so that only the white part is left, a lot of work to get to the white BUT it's delicious, cook like potatoes, bit of butter, salt it's lovely, in stews, soups or stir fry. People who throw away the stems are missing out.
