That's cool man! I've done some these exact delco radios adding aux input to them but not using Bluetooth, instead I put the aux port in face next to cassette door and sound quality is as good as cd! You can't beat these delcos because they just had a good sound to em and simple 2 use, just hard to find em in full working order anymore, nice car!

Thanks! The Aux input is a great idea too. I have another Delco radio I’m trying to fix by replacing the capacitors. Will see how that goes.

If ya don't mind me asking where do I connect the auxillary wires in the radio? I have mine apart fixing the capacitors as well.

Nice. I own an '84 Z28 that's a 5.0 H.O. too! Long ago I swapped out the factory radio for a Sony CD radio that has an aux port. Now? Phones don't have aux ports. I know, I can use an adapter or swap the radio, again, but eh. You made the right decision with the Bluetooth conversion. Awesome!

Yeah it's pretty cool to have it in an old car, and you can charge the phone while playing.

Those Delco radios will run 4 ohm speakers just fine. I have a Delco running 4 ohm tweeters 4 ohm midrange 4 ohm 6x9s plus a set of lower power 8 ohm 12inch speakers. All hooked to the Delco. There were premium audio options that gave you 4 ohm speakers some cars the premium version was Japan made 4 ohm but the exact same Delco radio is running it. 4 ohm 8 ohm 10 ohm its all fine.

Thanks for the info. I have another car with the Delco radio running 4 ohm speakers- it’s the radio with the EQ and it’s fine. Sounds great actually. I probably just had a bunch of bad radios by coincidence.

@@nowherefastgarage yah I had 4 ohm running in my 1988 IROC Z with the Delco deck. Really good sounding radios built by Panasonic at 100 watts. I also did the same in my 1991 Grand AM. Good to know you can do the Bluetooth as one day I'd like to get another Camaro and keep the stock radio - I'm not a big fan of aftermarket and today's FM sucks!

@@nowherefastgarage yeah there is basically an age/heat related flaw to many of these that causes one side to quit. If you are any good with soldering parts on circuit boards those dead channel decks can ---USUALLY-- be fixed for pennies on the dollar. Theres 3 capacitors that someone on the design team figured had to be there but the heat sink is too close. So they basically compromised by using physically smaller capacitors in that location.. no biggie but wait. Capacitors don't like excessive exposure to heat? And what was in the way? Yeah the flipping heatsink. They are so close to the heatsink that over time they just give up at an accelerated rate. Sure any capacitor can give out. BUT those 3 are the first literally every time. Ive gotten so many like that and fixed them. I typically get either a different type of capacitor that is better or the normal size ones like what is used elsewhere on this very same radio and mount them on the wrong side of the circuit board since they actually fit on that side. Problem solved. I still personally use 2 of these repaired decks to this day still working great. Another fun one. Those Delco radios with the EQ. If you should find an early one. Chances are the amp will work fine as its an older design amp that doesn't have that flaw. But the tape deck will likely be shot. And furthermore. The tuner may not work because of issues with soldering on the early ones. .. now. Switch that early amplifier into a late model deck with that amplifier flaw and bam you have yourself the best eq Delco possible. The early amps were more powerful. But the later tape deck and tuner worked better and usually isn't prone to many early issues. And if the late model EQ sliders do not affect the sound tone as they should then use the old ones. Made by a better manufacturer back then they just hold up better. . And if you get one that just doesn't turn on. But display the time. Swap the pins from ignition on to power antenna 12v. I think those pins are next to each other. These things are also notorious for defective power buttons. .

@@jewllake I'm pretty sure BOSE not panasonic - worked with Delco to produce these stereos - right? It was a big deal that they loved advertising back then.

@@budsodalsky Yes. BOSE Joined and partnered with GM in 1983 with Cadillac and then 1984 With Corvette. None BOSE Delco radios were still great decks, but built by Panasonic. When they had BOSE, the head units were powerless or output a very low signal that was amped by the BOSE amp or amps at each speaker. I don't know if Panasonic was involved in a BOSE head unit.
